July 11th is the court date of sentencing for Trump.

CivicBlues 05-30-2024 02:38 PM

Still not disqualified from running for President. :awwyeah::joy:

SkinnyPupp 05-30-2024 03:52 PM

As mentioned in the Trump thread, these are class 3 felonies which rarely if ever lead to prison time, especially for a first time offender

He's still a convicted felon, and they're still going to nominate him. Because... Honestly I don't know why. I give up trying to understand.

68style 05-30-2024 04:11 PM

The fact you can run for president with any sort of criminal record whatsoever is absolutely WILD to me.

I mean, you basically can't get a job without begging in the USA with one... but you can run the entire country and control the world's largest and most sophisticated military hahahaha... you can't make this shit up.

N.V.M. 05-30-2024 05:40 PM

is he allowed in Canada though.

westopher 05-30-2024 05:57 PM

"It says here you had 1 gram of weed in your car 20 years ago. After your 12 year jail sentence I'm afraid you just aren't trustworthy enough to work at this KFC.
Have you considered raping someone then running for president instead?"

Hondaracer 05-30-2024 07:11 PM

I was curious to see if you can even work at McDonald’s if you have a single felony a search yielded that most “corporately owned” locations will not hire felons lol…

Can’t flip a junior chicken but you can be president

westopher 05-30-2024 07:32 PM

Lol I literally thought my KFC reference was hyperbolic but I guess not.

bcrdukes 05-30-2024 08:27 PM

Trump vs. Badhobz @ KFC

Badhobz 05-30-2024 08:35 PM

My hands are bigger than his. Fuck you trump and your CHInnnnaaahhhhhh fucking hypocrisy

PeanutButter 05-30-2024 09:07 PM

If you're Republican does it even matter who's running? Wouldn't they vote Republican regardless?

Biden has been actively courting the moderate Republicans to vote for him, and if they won't, he is at least still hoping they would hold out from coming out to vote for Trump.

As much as a huge portion of republican voters are complete morons, there are people who are normal that vote republican based on their tax bracket, their desire for a less regulated economy, etc that aren't complete morons.
As much as tribalism has taken over the dumbest people in the country, there are still plenty of people that don't buy into that political mindset.

whitev70r 05-31-2024 06:54 AM

^ yah, perfectly legit to have different political views and respectful differences but it's the far-right crazies of the Tea Party/Republicans, followers of Galumph, that are so nauseating to deal with. Same can be said of the far left cray crays.

What's even more wild is that convicted felons are prohibited from joining the military, completely.

Yet a convicted felon are theoretically run and be the boss of the very same institution.

Make that make sense.

MarkyMark 05-31-2024 10:31 AM

Hey if you can convince half or more of the country to vote for you as a convicted felon then who's to say what's right or wrong lol

68style 05-31-2024 10:40 AM

Yah to a certain extent that's all on the dumbass population at that point... guy shouldn't even get a sniff but here we are.

I'm surprised it's not in the constitution though, maybe the great forefathers saw a need for a felon to run the country at some point lol

Hondaracer 05-31-2024 12:30 PM

Willy Pickton dies after the attack in Jail

Death too good for the guy unfortunately. Never really got the idea that the death penalty was somehow worse than living in a box for decades

PeanutButter 05-31-2024 12:47 PM

I think it depends on the jail. I've heard stories that some jails are super chill, guys cook their own food, play games, etc. It's not as bad as one would think.

Death is definitely the easiest way out I would suspect.

Whatever costs the tax payers less, i'm for that (edit; this sounds pretty insensitive reading it out loud)

Hondaracer 05-31-2024 01:11 PM

Some people deserve to sit in a box alone for the rest of their lives. That’s infinitely worse than the release of death is imo. Some of the worst criminals where their death sentences were fast tracked like Timothy Mcveigh etc. obviously got off incredibly easy in just dieing as opposed to rotting away forever.

But I guess in the states with a large religious population, people probably perceive death as the worse fate.

Honestly if I was gonna go rot in jail for 15+ years, I’d probably just kill my self anyways lol

Greatest most advanced economy in the world, but relies on a sanctified 250 year old document full of holes and missing contingencies galore for all it's laws regarding it's highest office.

68style 05-31-2024 01:15 PM

Sounds like religion

CivicBlues 05-31-2024 01:18 PM

Correctamundo and basically half of said country wants to go back to using a 2000-year old book instead for it's laws.

Yes but these non morons are the ones nominating him over other Republicans to run for president.

68style 05-31-2024 02:19 PM

They don't really have a choice, the Republican (or Democratic for that matter) nominee is determined by their own party through the primary process... so the voters have almost no say in it. Trump being the Republican candidate is based on him having the large amount of support from the Republican party itself.

This map is pretty informative:
