RO - is pure and clean but it takes time and pressure to push it thru the membrane + reservior.
Chinese places sells it at 900 + 100 for 2 filters + install... but i can't see a difference when you order any amazon online.

I'm in Toronto and the water does taste different. Lived in Van for 30 years and never had issues with water. it's 99% of the time it's the ladies that want "better" tasting water.
freaking Brita is fineeee.

Try Zero Water filter. I find it removes EVERYTHING. For shits and giggles, we bought it in HK and tested it at the hotel. Water came out super pure. Beats Brita any day.

FUCK YEAH
One of the most sickening cases I've heard. Not just the case itself but its 'judicial process'.

The guy is only 35 (years old) now. 25 yrs with no chance of parole means he'll only be 60 by then, and 60 yrs old isn't even that old.
So if he doesn't get fxxked up in jail one way or another, that still seems young enough to get off on parole somehow, and he'd still be fully capable of doing some more damage.
I have no sympathy for Robert Pickton when he got stabbed in jail and died from his injuries. I would feel exactly the same way if this Ibrahim Ali dude sees a similar fate.
(But none of this punishment would bring the poor girl back... )

Didn't his lawyer tried to have the case thrown out on technicality because he's DNA was collected without consent or some other bullshit? Quote:

(But none of this punishment would bring the poor girl back... ) | 25 years without parole doesn't mean he gets guaranteed parole. Just means he gets a hearing in 25 years. Plus in he's a Syrian National and (should) get deported.
Anyways a quarter century is a long time. 25 years ago we probably wouldn't have even let him in to the country but here we are. Speculating is pointless.

People holding Canadian PR that commit a crime that is considered serious criminality will be deported after serving their time.
Serious criminality is when:
A) the crime has a possible sentence of ten or more years
B) their jail sentence is longer than six months
Latest example is the guy that caused the Humboldt Broncos crash back in 2018. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/saska...ring-1.7213657

Maybe refugees are special cases where they're treated like Canadian citizens if they commit a serious crime? Regular non citizens get deported
Pretty sure a 25 year prison sentence is worse than deporting him, where he'd just eventually go somewhere else as a refugee to rape more kids

Yeah I never get the whole thing with conservatives/racists calling for every non-citizen criminal to be "deported!" It's like, so send him back to his home country so he can be let off scot free? Doesn't make any sense.

I don't think they get special privileges. The board that looked over the deportation of the truck driver above is called the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada. Quote:
"I can't consider humanitarian and compassionate factors," Trent Cook from the immigration division of the board, who oversaw the hearing, told Sidhu.
"My sole role today is to make a finding on whether the minister has established the facts that support their allegation that you're inadmissible for serious criminality.
| https://ccrweb.ca/sites/ccrweb.ca/fi...l-resource.pdf Quote:
A permanent resident loses their permanent residence status and faces deportation from Canada if they become inadmissible on grounds of serious criminality.
Depending on the circumstances, even people who came to Canada as refugees may be deported.

At most he has PR through his refugee status. He came in 2017 and was arrested in 2018.
There is no way they would've approved his citizenship application if he had the balls to do that during the investigation and trials.

You can't really deport someone if the entire reason you allowed them in is to get away from where you'd be deporting them to. So you take them under your law.
Other non citizens would be under a standard where they can just be booted out if they commit crimes
I don't know if that's true, but it would make sense to me

I don't know if that's true, but it would make sense to me | Hmm, I was thinking the opposite. You're a refugee, but still a guest. You should be on better behavior since you've basically been given a second chance in life.
Doing a search, it does seem that refugees in the past have been allowed to stay, but it depends on how much risk they pose to Canadians vs. how much risk they face if they were to return back home. https://calgaryherald.com/news/crime...nt-crime-spree
Kenyan facing deportation after serving 41 months. Faced 36 charges of various violent crimes. Meth addict to boot. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/montr...tion-1.3467005
Honduran faced deportation after armed robbery charge although he had previous run-ins with the law. Was acquitted of his armed robbery charge because police acted out of procedure. Was allowed to stay afterwards.
After learning all this, I imagine Ibrahim will probably be allowed to stay in Canada after doing his time unless Syria becomes a much safer place in 2050.
