Golf is a dying and fucking retarded "sport", the comments in this thread just reaffirm that to me. Get into road biking like the rest of the C-Suite Zoomers you old farts. |
I think you're wrong man, golf is super popular amongst kids/younger people I stopped playing years ago and no interest in picking it back up... but all my friends kids are into it and the VR golf simulators are constantly booked around town. |
Golf is fantastic, you go with your buddys have some drinks play wack fuck and try not to stress over the way you play. A lot of these old fucks need golf to get out and stay active or just a good reason to get away from their wives . It's also more popular and expensive as ever, this is far from a dying sport. |
At worst, you're in a nice park with 3 other friends having some beers and talking about life. Also get 10 to 14,000 steps in. Unless you're rich enough to power cart. |

If you had a business number, Telus had a wild $36/$40 plan last week. It was 250GB with roaming in CAN/US/MEX. |
I've been reading for years that golf is dying, why do you think Nike pulled out? https://www.essentiallysports.com/go...ible-pga-tour/ https://www.untracedgolfing.com/en-c...dont-play-golf I suppose COVID might've slowed its death, but overall its popularity has gone down. How would you attract new players to a sport where dudes with bellies are whipping balls down the course at your newbie ass? I'm probably being hyperbolic, but I've always hated golf :lol |
Golf is expensive .. and a full round takes way too long ~ 4hrs. |
Perhaps people now have more disposable income than ever before. :) |
The same people who ruined housing here are ruining local golf hehe But yea.. your top model driver used to be $500, now they are starting at $799 Vokey wedges, which used to be considered the best used to be $150 a pop (which was still crazy) are now $250 each Places like Redwoods are now $100 green fees without a cart. Golf is probably one of the few sports more expensive than Hockey to get into |
cycling has entered the chat! |
Cycling is like soccer though, once you have a bike, riding is free. The contents of my bag is probably worth more than most mid range road bikes. You literally cannot play a full sized course for under $70 these days on weekends |
a mid range road bike is like 3500 now, and it's still aluminum. also most cyclists own several bikes and the dedicated ones are upgrading them every few years so they can look cool in their group. it's up there man |
I play a local 9 hole course. Par 35. Takes 2 hours usually. Nice flat walk. Makes for a good day in the park. |

Downside is no phone support line, absolute garbage self serve system, and if you need help you need to make a second forum account, then wait for some "mod" to help you. Its no frills, but absolute garbage when you need to add US data or whatever for a weekend get away. Also those of you that love saving 40$ on your 8000$ tax bill, public mobile offers 1$ for every friend referral. Get 34 friends signed up = free 50gb plan for life. |

For just regular running/training, he's going through 2-3 pairs of shoes, and the pro shoes lose their effectiveness if they are too old or gone through too many cycles. Yes running is not expensive, but holy shit the consumables, he's going through 1k worth of shoes a year easy. Quote:

If you are going through 1k in shoes, you dont have a running problem, but a "i cant wear cheap shoes" problem Same goes for biking. A 400$ canadian tire special will serve you for 20 years, account for 300$ in parts every few years and your good to go. If your really into it, a used 1500$ bike and your good to go. Those that spend 8k on a carbon bike are the definition of enthusiasts, and the 8k is well worth it. When i was 18 i had a 2500$ bike that i custom built since i worked at a bike shop (5500$ retail price). My car was 700$ at the time. But i rode the bike all summer, every summer, for years, well worth the money. |

At least, you can buy used clubs. I'm not sure I want to buy a used training/running shoe :ohgodwhy: |
I used to play golf with my dad's clubs from when he was a kid... the woods actually have a wooden head with a metal face hahahaha |

I don't play with CEOs and politicians at fucking Langara golf course LOL, especially not when it used to cost $40 for 5 hours of play. And I started with an old set of hand-me-down clubs some of which I still use to this day. The basic outlay back in the day was like a couple hundred bucks to buy a decent driver that wasn't made of wood anymore like 68style's clubs :lol |
