Anybody understand European politics?

UK recently voted in a 'Liberal' Labour majority government over a Cons government that has been in power for like 14 yrs.

France is even more confusing, they have so many parties and a coalition of 'leftist' parties Popular Front - with communists, socialists, greens, etc. They have a first election and a second round election, a President and a Prime Minister (which could be and will be from different parties).

Could the international tilt toward the left be any indication for North American politics which seems to be tilting towards the right ...

I mean the UK one is easy enough to understand, they left the EU which was disastrous for them and their economy and social programs are in the absolute shitter like they've never been in recent memory... how the Conservative government stayed in power for as long as it did there is nothing short of a miracle.

Different voting systems.

But yes, I do think this could be a bit of a tilt.

The Cons in the UK have ruined that country, Brexit has been an absolute disaster for that country. The public is finally waking up that modern conservatism is simply tax cuts (for those who don't need it), the whittling down of pubic services and infrastructure, privatization, all wrapped up in xenophobia, a Faustian trade.

I follow French politics far less than the UK, but the sentiments are similar. Macron essentially called the right's bluff, called an election, a genius move.

I think he realized that once people started to hear how batshit crazy the candidates running on the right sounded on the public stage, it would have an adverse affect. Thus here we are.

Oh Sh*t ... just got email that Ticketmaster was hacked and privacy breached ... GREAT !! I hated dealing with them before and hate them even more.

What Happened

Based on our investigation to date, we determined that the unauthorized activity occurred between April 2, 2024, and May 18, 2024. On May 23, 2024, we determined that some of your personal information may have been affected by the incident. We have not seen any additional unauthorized activity in the cloud database since we began our investigation.

Everywhere else you enter all your information, probably just keep it under the radar during a leak

I've mentioned this to a few RS members in person, but I'm back in school doing some pre-course work until my program begins in January next year.

Throughout most of my academic career, I learned and wrote papers using the Modern Language Association (MLA) format. The school and program I'm going into uses APA style. I now have to unlearn everything, and relearn this new-to-me style. The nuances are minor, but make a huge difference. The learning curve isn't steep, but frustrating.

My advice to everyone: Don't go back to school after you've finished it. Move on in life and be done with it.

I had to do this trying to help my cousin with her math homework a while back. She's not even that much younger than me but they were doing everything in a completely different way so I had to go learn how she was being taught to do it, then help her do it, and then check the answers using the method I learned.

Haha first day of lecture, the professor starts his lecture by saying, “I’ll make this simple for you all. ChatGPT - don’t use it in this class. If you do, I suggest you withdraw from this course. This class is about writing, and the only to learn is if you do it yourself.” Well, shit. :lol

Badhobz 07-08-2024 09:07 PM

Use it anyways and call his bluff. Fuck you old man !!! You’re not the boss of me

yray 07-08-2024 10:07 PM

I am triggered by APA...

This reminds me of when I was at College taking a pysch(o) course and I had to write my first paper ever in APA (some research project). I had no idea what I was doing and the teacher was no help. By the end of it, she flagged me down at the end of a class and told me that I plagiarized and I would be reported (when, in fact, I incorrectly cited my sources). By this point, I was already fed up so I said to her:

"Well, if you're gonna report me, then add in the part where I told you to go fuck yourself".

I then quit the course with like 4 weeks left.

It was here that I decided to quit the useless college degree bullshit and just pursue what I'm actually interested in.

And I'm still in the same industry I pursued!

EDIT: Looking back, some of the worst college professors I had were not working professionals. They too had useless college degrees and could only become useless teachers as a result. Then proceed to berate and lecture us beyond an academic level to makeup for their shortfalls of becoming a qualifiable and quantifiable member of society. Masquerading as intellectually domineering while proselytizing their vapid and insipid dogma that does not even begin to show much relevance beyond the 4 walls they play their performance as if vaudeville was second in line to their caliber of chrono & spatial occupation.

Decades later, I'm clearly still triggered :derp:

There can only be one APA

Way to go you communist fuckers! if youre going to sell cars with speed limiters, you might as well just let robo car drive itself. Why even bother.

https://www.theautopian.com/why-euro...omment-page-1/

"If you’re in Europe, it’s now a choice that the government makes. As of July 7th, all new cars sold on the continent or in Northern Ireland have to have a mandatory speed limiter installed. The system is generally known as Intelligent Speed Assistance (ISA) and it’s probably going to show up on a lot of vehicles in the United Kingdom as well because the country basically shares a car market with the rest of its neighbors."

I thought a lot of Euro cars were limited to 155mph anyways? Japan has been limited to 180km/h for ages.

Just use the Purdue APA guide for reference - https://owl.purdue.edu/owl/research_...ide/index.html

i think this new adaptive system is where if the road sign shows 100kph, it'll limit itself to 100kph.

It would be even more intrusive say for example they implemented sensors along the highway with 5G connectivity and from a centralized system, with cars having connected "always on" modules, it limits the ECU/DME from speeding. But how would I know? I'm just a noob.

God I hate new cars like new appliances, why so many sensors and connectivity to the internet? Stupid ass stuff like ambient lights that look like a nightclub and an inside camera for tik tok.
