They bought a $500k condo five ish years ago, so whatever that payment is now.

If he owns a place just get a HELOC and pay off the card with that for a much better rate. Even if they don't do it right and actually pay down the debt at least they'll be at a lower rate.

MBNA has regular promos for transfers:

https://www.mbna.ca/en/credit-cards/balance-transfer

If he can pay off in a year, he'll def come out ahead.

A 500k condo 5 years ago is 650-800k today.

Heloc the condo > pay off 50k CC debt > now he is paying 6-7% instead of 22% > stop spending money for 2 years, pay off 50k at 6-7%.

Dude has a serious spending problem, and or there is more to the picture we dont know about

Edit: too soon, underscore beat me to it

Am I the only person here that have don't know how much money my friends make, or their husbands/wives/partners make?

Sure I can guess, but that's not the same as knowing

CivicBlues 08-21-2024 09:37 AM

^Obvs you don't have PeanutButter's type of Rizz. He just says the right words and everyone just spills their guts/financial situation/tax returns/puts him in their will.

Not inconceivable for there to be something underlying that no one knows about and they are too ashamed to admit it. Wife's ex had a friend who was dating an ugly bitchy chick for a long time and she couldn't figure out why. It came out a few years after that the guy has a gambling problem and the chick has been paying off his gambling debt.

On a totally unrelated note. It's about time we do a MG1 wellness check? It's been awhile.

I guess HELOC seems like the most appropriate course. I'll talk to them and see how much equity they have and try to get them on their way. Thanks guys!

In regards to salaries, I don't know all of my friends salaries, but I have a pretty good range. In our friend group we talk about promotions and raises and salaries, I guess that's just what we do. It's also common for people to ask directly, "So what's your salary range right now". I know this isn't typical friend behavior though.

You know what's crazy.

One of my aunt's wanted to put me in her will.

I was away for a few years and I didn't know anyone except this one aunt, she would always come by and make me food, buy me food, she would literally clean my apartment.

I would take her for dinners to show my appreciation, I would remember her birthday, flowers for mothers day, etc. Just like normal appreciative behavior for someone who would make you food and clean your apartment. She was amazing. I moved back home but I still keep in contact with her. I will never forget what she did for me during that time.

Her kids were a-holes, they always yelled at her, gave her attitude, always disrespected her in front of me. So, relatively, i'm a superstar, a son she never had.

Anyway, fast forward a few years and my mom ends up telling me that she wanted to put me in her will because she knew I would appreciate it and I was always so nice to her, etc. My mom shut that down so hard and fast and told her that I don't need to be in the will, i'm taken care of, etc.

So yeah, I may or may not be in my aunts will.

This is too good for the AI thread

underscore 08-21-2024 03:55 PM

What have you guys seen for sharing photos during/after a wedding? A few years back my friends used an app called The Guest which would auto-upload photos during a set timespan and it was super convenient but it seems like that's no longer available.
