Maybe that's how they get it to stay crunchy even as leftovers. Still worth having once in awhile though. |

I've been a loyal customer of many restaurants in the Richmond area and have literally seen them only increase their prices by $1-$2 over the course of a year or so. It makes it harder to understand when you see $5-$15 increases over the same period of time for others. My last meal at Fat Burger was nearly $30 for just a burger, fries and a fountain drink for example. |

tipflation is definitely something that bothers me. getting prompted to tip 18% when i had to walk up to the window and order for myself is just silly. i even got prompted to tip 15% when i bought $60 worth of hot sauces at lucifers. i understand you can just tip 0% in these situations but it's crazy that you even have to do that. |
I've always felt that tipping on to-go orders was ridiculous. Takeya in Richmond has converted to being ENTIRELY take out food and they STILL prompt you to tip them. I no longer carry any shame about giving 0% in those types of situations. The guilt trip went stale long time ago. |
I used to tip on take out during covid because that was the server's livelihood during a time when no one is eating in. It's all back to normal now so no tipping. |
T&T Fried chicken ... yah, hard to get a whole chicken for less than $12.00 and for them to cook it, ready to eat. On paper right there, great value. Not Costco value but for Fried Chicken ... now I gotta try. Tipflation, yah, I've resorted to no tipping when I go to coffee shop and all I get is a coffee or a muffin. If there is actual 'service' at sit down places, then yes ... and don't be fooled by the 15% or 18% number, that is on the total including the 5% tax. WTH has to tip 15% on the tax portion going to the government. |
I too am a cheap Chinaman and usually don't tip on takeout orders but if it's a place we go to regularly I will add in an extra $1-2 on occasion depending on order size |
Is that the secret to owning two E46 M3s? :troll: |

If you are ordering standing up, no tip. In america where serving wages is less than minimum wage I tip accordingly but Canada it’s min wage + tips so no need to tip 18%+ unless exceptional service. That hipster barista can shake his head in disgust at my zero tip all he wants! |

i was in chicago airport buying a hotdog, and this lady turned the credit card machine around and told me to press one of the buttons. All of them had 15%, 20% 25% tip options and OTHER. I selected other and pressed 0. She gave me this funny remark about how i pressed the wrong button. I said i dont read engrish so it seems right to me. We both had a laugh and i walked away with this nasty hotdog that taste worst than costco's. https://i.postimg.cc/K8tKP56J/IMG-1689.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/9fVDJ7VV/IMG-1690.jpg |

Rita O-Hare's a stone cold fox! i asked my old bitch mabel if she looked this good during the war, and she said she wasnt that old.... highly sus.... |

That made my day. Good ol' blast from the past and relevance to the news. :lol |
I'm not against tipping on takeout but what I am against is tipping the same or close to the same amount vs dining in. They really think packing my food and handing it to me deserves the same amount vs me dining in and being served for the duration of my meal ummm no. Was at the whitecaps game last week and there was a complete self checkout section with zero interaction with any staff and the tipping option appeared like what why lol |

Olive oil $7/L > $17/L Flat irons 16.99/kg > 31.99/kg Halibut $25/kg>39/kg Chicken wings $80/case > $200/case Canola oil 16/jug > 36/jug (Peaked at 65/jug) The costs are fucking crazy and the increases truthfully aren't nearly enough at restaurants. That's not including the labour costs of $13.85 > $16.88 (which I still believe should be way more, but that's why we tip, because if we didn't we'd be paying good servers $30-$35 an hour and charging 30% more on the menu to offset the cost, which again I'd totally prefer because tipping culture is bullshit) It's worth noting that a lot of businesses in Richmond (or Iranian businesses in North van) owned by immigrant families are willing to operate at a loss as an easier path to Canadian citizenship. If you can stay open for 5 years and employ a certain amount of current residents it's near guaranteed you will be approved for PR/citizenship. It's a great way for people with some wealth to essentially fund their way to approval. |
Now I want to know if jing will dine at where westopher works and how the tip option will look like lol |
The extent of my culinary palate ends at White Spot so I doubt I'll be going to any Michelin-esque restaurants anytime soon |
