NGL when I order takeout white spot, I usually order a pirate pak for myself. I get the burger and add lettuce/tomato, comes with fries, and ice cream. There's no better deal out there.

jing 09-04-2024 12:17 PM

You can Pirate Pak all day if ordering takeout. No more discount though.

how do you mean? PP is $12 dine in and $12 take out.

jing 09-04-2024 12:37 PM

Prior to Covid you could get 10% off for all takeout orders including the PP. The discount these days is no longer applicable to PP and is limited to 'new accounts' only. The PP was 6$ before 20% off about 10 years ago.

+1 for never using delivery especially 3rd party apps. But tipping on take out is a thing and sadly I’ve accepted it. I'm a creature of habit and I only frequent a handful of places (mom and pops mostly) for takeout. I like the food, good service, no mistakes, because they know me as a regular they give a generous serving and occasional freebie. Boom! Automatic 15%. For restaurants I less frequent (mostly big chains) I just round up. Unless they’re a flirty little thing then Boom, 15%. Hahaha I’m a simple man.

when i was in the states last month prices are basically the same but in USD, and you tip 20% everywhere. shits expensive as a canadian visitor. made me appreciate the restaurant prices here for a sec lol.

Yeah, no kidding. I was browsing fine dining restaurants in Seattle (stuff comparable to the Botanist, Boulevard, Cioppino's type) and it's 30-50% more money for about the same kind of food/experience and that's before tipping.

While I'm still a bit taken aback when I see burger and fries (or similar) for $20 here it's still a better deal than in the US. After conversion it's even crazier.

HonestTea 09-05-2024 07:57 AM

A quick trip to Seattle has gotten so expensive, especially with the shitty exchange rate.

punkwax 09-05-2024 08:38 AM

I just got back from 5 days in Oregon and ya, it’s not cheap. Even the outlet mall deals were far crappier than I remember from back in the 90’s when I was a kid. I didn’t save a thing doing our back to school shopping there, even with no tax.

mikemhg 09-05-2024 08:59 AM

This is what I've been saying, Seattle/Portland aren't worth visiting right now.

Way too expensive relative to your options here, and it's a damn shame.

underscore 09-05-2024 09:46 AM

I haven't found anything in the US that's cheaper than it is here. Which I guess is good overall, it's just weird to think about.

Yep, especially since I hear the homeless/drug problem is not much better there than in Vancouver, or even worse in the case of Portland. Despite what some people might make you think that it's a problem isolated to shithole Vancouver.

punkwax 09-05-2024 11:32 AM

Ya there was a fully naked lady doing the fentanyl fold outside of our Portland hotel at 9AM. We were at a nice hotel too, not in the slums.

Before I’m asked for pics she was a solid .5

Yea, let’s normalize random murders and a crack society.

Seattle has been awesome every time I've gone, but it's always for a specific activity. I stay in the same hotel, go to the same 3 venues and same 3 bars.
It is pretty pricey but you literally can not touch the Seattle music scene. Maybe Nashville or Austin are the only other options near it but that's a lot more money and time to get there.
I stay in the shitty part of town too and it's not nearly as bad as heading to the rickshaw here.

unit 09-05-2024 02:22 PM

rickshaw is not so bad, just don't predrink at the savoy like i once did

westopher 09-05-2024 03:27 PM

lol I made the same mistake seeing new found glory with a bunch of buddies visiting but that was back in 2013 when it was WAY less bad down there. Can't imagine it now. Rickshaw itself is a spectacular venue, but coming and going can be pretty not sweet when the sun is down.

There's a story here

bcrdukes 09-05-2024 08:21 PM

So, for those of you who remember, a few months back, I posted about taking an academic non-credit course on how to write. Well, after going through wild emotional roller coasters and sleepness nights, including head banging on the table, I've finally completed the course with a final grade of 96.85%. Asian Fail.

Are you going to take the course again?

Badhobz 09-05-2024 08:53 PM

What happened to the other 3%?!?!?! Disgusting

Badhobz is right. I need to redeem myself and retake the course as there is a discount for re-takes.

SkinnyPupp 09-05-2024 10:01 PM

I actually knew someone in high school who "Asian Failed" by only getting a B, and redid the course in summer school. Obviously a B is much worse than you mediocre score, so I guess it makes sense

bcrdukes 09-06-2024 05:26 AM

Thank you for understanding. :fuckthatshit:
