for those of you who don't know the savoy is full of a lot of first nations people and a few white ppl, and you really stand out if you look different. we didn't really know that but the security guy outside was super friendly and even offered to take us inside after we passed the vibe check. he brought us to the table and after a few moments of all eyes on us, things became fairly normal, or as normal as sitting in a dive bar on the dtes can get. beers were ice cold which helped because they were like 8%+ malt liquor. overall not a bad experience but don't really recommend. 4/10.

bcrdukes 09-06-2024 07:19 AM

Growing up in the DTES (blocks away from the Savoy) even I don't dare to step foot in there. :lol

You are brace, sir. :accepted:

Badhobz 09-06-2024 07:42 AM

That’s a longshore bar (their local 500 union hall is right behind it) I used to go quite often with the longshore bosses but since I’ve stopped drinking in 2019 it’s been no bueno for me

P.s I lied. It was the wardolf hotel on Hastings. My brain is fucked nowadays

Have you guys forgotten the Asian grading system?

A - Average
B - Below Average
C - Can't eat dinner
D - Don't come home
F - Find new family

CRS 09-06-2024 09:59 AM

Got a crack on my windshield. Started off as a chip that in the frit so I didn't notice until it cracked.

Do you guys recommend just going through insurance and going to whatever shop or do you have a recommendation that does a cash job?

Hondaracer 09-06-2024 10:20 AM

If you have auto glass coverage is there any downside in getting it replaced via insurance? Only $200

jing 09-06-2024 10:27 AM

Seven Star Glass seems to be recommended often in several of the local car groups though I have no previous experience. B

spoon.ek9 09-06-2024 10:36 AM

Speedy Auto Glass did a great job for my EF. Even though it had to be custom ordered, they got the job done and even let me choose the type I wanted. I think I ended up adding a bit more on top of the ICBC coverage but I was very happy with their service.

I'd recommend going, pretty fun times!

I've been once and it was a ton of fun. Took the 2nd row chairs out from the Odyssey minivan to make it enjoyable for everyone.

Quite sad to learn that they're closing, but that kind of rent and property tax increase is not sustainable for many small and medium-sized businesses.

Do any of you guys know if it's possible to get it replaced if it's just pitted and not cracked anywhere? Trying to drive my Celica at night is borderline impossible these days.

N.V.M. - Thanks for that!

Do you have any recommendations for binoculars, or have advice on how to find the right pair? Most of my use will be urban settings and some local trails. Thanks in advance.

Hondaracer 09-08-2024 09:26 AM

In the hunting community Vortex glass is very high quality for the price. Probably still going to drop 300-500 for a set but they are on par with binocs double the price
