I think you need to include Jollibee in the equation as to why there's less flip employees working for Church's lol.

I think it depends on geography - the EIs in the US are often top tier particularly in the valley. Those guys went to the best schools in India and companies will move heaven and earth for them. The Sundars and Satya types.

A lot of the ones that come to Vancouver are, like the Mexicans that go to America, not their best. Indian culture and education is too deferential and too driven by rote learning so the creativity and assertiveness that you need to succeed in NA tech is often missing. The ones who can overcome that can be really terrific though.

Same issue with the Church's on Lougheed by Brentwood, went from being fully Flip to EIs in the span of a few months.

Went downhill almost immediately.

Can only imagine the sweaty greasy guys going back to their 12 person basement suite with a bucket of poorly cooked chicken to swap out their spot on the 3rd queen size mattress.

You’ve never experienced greasier door knobs

For every one of those top end talent in those roles, there's probably 10 slaving away as an intermediate for 10 years and learned nothing on the job.

Even with the high "failure rate" there's still a lot of EI in tech to go around for the number of successful ppl to be significant.

the DQ in North Van used to be run by an older Chinese guy and a few local teens, it was the best. Extremely quick service and tasty.
Ever since DQ renovated all their interiors, most of them been run by EIs too

The DQ by Dunbar and 16th was my go-to dessert place during covid when I wanted a chocolate dip blizzard. The Chinese owner was there on occasion and he worked there long enough to remember what I'm talking about.

It's not a complicated recipe since the recipe is still available, but it confuses employees 75% of the time when I try to order it.

I haven't gone back to the dunbar location in a while, but maybe I'll pay a visit this week and see if he's been replaced.

Jollibee's spicy has taken over as my new favourite amongst all the chains. It used to be Church's but the recipe at Jollibee's is definitely tastier and spicier. Every other chain has been pretty disappointing in comparison. Plus, you know, those Peach Mango pies are fucking addictive.

The Car and Driver twitter feed likes to post only comparison tests once in a while and this one is right in our wheel house - it's from 1990 and it's about "hot" hatches.

I loved that generation of Civic Si - incredible that it could do 0-60 in 8.5s with just 108hp. Also hilarious (and not surprising) to see the Americans finish at the bottom - they sure made a lot of awful cars in the 80's and 90's.

there's plenty of reasons for why I'm unwilling to let go of my '90 Si

even though it's old af it's STILL a great car to drive. not to mention, with the miniscule pillars, vision is so much clearer than with new cars and their airbag fattened messes to look around. lots of underrated aspects when it comes to cars of this era nowadays. only car guys and those willing to learn will understand.

Being someone who grew up in the 90s things cars like yours are right in my wheelhouse. They are obviously lesser and lesser car from this era on the road and shiet I even get nostalgic seeing a stock Integra on the road lol. Just the other day I saw a Mitsubishi 3000gt man haven't seen one of those in years.

I get compliments all the time (for both cars). Lots of random middle aged guys telling me how they used to own one and miss it. Even the younger crowd of guys tend to notice the car. A few weeks ago in Yaohan parking lot, I had the windows rolled down while leaving and a guy (maybe in his late 20's) says to his gf "I'd fuck with that" as he walked past

Problem is, finding one in good condition is increasingly more and more impossible. Also, the value of these cars has skyrocketed in the past 5-10 years. Obviously not as much as a 97-01 ITR but these Civics hold their own!

One of my best friends and I literally became friends because of this car. He spotted my car in Superstore parking lot and I came back to see him taking pics since he also has one in Tahitian Green!

It's generally girls who think I'm poor AF lol. Which, when I was single, was actually useful information.

badhobz i prob should have asked you to build my stupid plastic shed!
we built everything and then the stupid doors didnt fit.
the metal channels on the sides of the doors are too long for the doors themselves, so they stick out and it's impossible to fasten together properly.

i complained to keter and they have been a pain in the ass to deal with. my next stop is to return to costco.

when you return something to costco or anywhere for that matter, do they take it up with the supplier and get refunded through them for their cost? anyone know how that works? i'm trying to use some leverage to get them to send me the proper replacement parts rather than me returning the entire shed, just want to understand how the costs get absorbed in the backend first.

My buddy drives his 2012 Rav4 on dates and leaves the Model Y at home.

It's always a blast hearing his 3rd 4th date stories when he decides to whip out the Tesla.

Most ppl equate it to entry level luxury, despite it being not. It's at best a Civic level body wrapped around a $60k drivetrain.

Don't let hehe hear me say that though lol.

Probably a smart move with all these gold digging street lizards in 2024

If i was dating, i probably would not be picking up any ladies in the c7 unless they were dick succ worthy only. Gotta make sure they are interested in me, and not my bank account
