Costco had an orbital setup at the Willingdon location for a while was under $100 I think

Couple earthquakes in a span of a 10 days or so - better start stocking up on bottled water, candles and axes/machetes.

Nope. Like I said earlier, people were doing this in the busy summers, just reserving like 3 ferries in a row so they had options for which one to hit.

Don't be stupid.

It's to defend yourself when your neighbours come after you.

I think what Covid has really taught us was always be prepped.

Ever since Covid, I got a backup generator as well as an Ecoflow battery when they were on sale just so that in the worst case scenario, I could at least keep some light and fridges around the house going for a few days.

Never thought about getting them... but you cannot be too careful.

As far as food and water goes, I've got anywhere between 5-14days worth of food depending on whether I ration or not.

Last, but not least, my pistols, plenty of ammo and the neighbour deers that frequent our backyard are my last resort should the shit really hit the fans. :fuckthatshit:

Just curious: are handguns powerful enough to take down a deer to eat?

Kinda feels like a 9mm wouldn't do a whole lot to an angry armored antler-wielding beast.

Or does taking multiple shots help compensate? Like if you dual-wield and kinda unload both clips. IIRC dual leets carry 20 ammo? Like would that be good? Or not really because you can't really cluster all the shots tightly enough to penetrate?

Oh man, not to mention the inconvenience of picking bullets out of your teeth, sitting down to a meal.

How well marbled are you? Are you fed a diet of beer and daily massages like A5 Wagyu?

Great68 10-04-2024 12:38 PM

What's great about having a travel trailer and a good camping setup, is that it inherently also makes a good disaster preparedness setup.

House gets damaged and can't stay inside? Have a place to sleep.

Shit goes to hell and have to get out of town? Hitch up and go.

Unless a deer is within 20 yards 99% of people ain’t killing a deer with a handgun

I see this is some weird gun nut thing about like banning hand guns when they could be used for hunting.. they are all but useless in the most trained hands and even then shooting sonthing at 50+ yards is virtually impossible

I have a Porter Cable polisher but don't use it anymore. Actually, I've never used it, jbol. Like most of my tools nowadays. Anyhow, I did polish the headlights of my older vehicles using this..............

https://www.meguiars.com/da-power-system

I attach it to any one of my Milwaukee cordless drills and it gets the job done. It comes with a pad, but they have more grits for different stages and jobs.

I got mine from Canadian Tire during their mega sale event. Stacked offers and used my Canadian Tire Money. Paid nothing. I think they're about $80? It's a 4 inch, so perfect for smaller surfaces like headlights. Pillars, even better, methinks.

EDIT: Found the link https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/m...1_rr&rrec=true

Hand guns are hugely inaccurate anything past 15-20m, or even 10m, and forget about dual wield, you'll be the second coming of a storm trooper.

A deer can probably tank a few 9mm shots without dying if you don't hit anything vital, they'll be hurt and will be a cougar's dinner instead of yours.

I learned from a friend yesterday that handguns are now banned. It's just not a topic I follow too much. Any current handgun owners are grandfathered in and you can't sell them.

ahh yes they've been banned for a while now I regret not sneaking in a last minute purchase though I was really close. The grandfathering though only extends to the person who currently owns it so if you pass it can't be passed on to a family member you'd have to give it up essentially.

punkwax 10-04-2024 02:59 PM

disregard.

keifun 10-04-2024 07:32 PM

Handgun owner here. Yep, fucking Trudeau banned the sale of restricted firearms aka. handguns almost two years ago. Luckily I bought mine before it went through legislation.

Shitty thing too is that I can't even purchase parts for it if it needs repair. Well if the Cons win, PP did mention he will scrap the handgun ban

Lol damn you know I didn't even think about the parts aspect of things I suppose good luck getting any furniture too?

roastpuff 10-04-2024 09:05 PM

Parts and furniture are fine. It's just the serialized parts (frame, typically) that is no longer purchasable.

It all depends on where you hit. But the idea is more to trap it somehow and finish it with pistol rather than just shooting directly with pistols.

Either way... if they are hit in the torso... from my own experience, regardless what kind of bullets... maybe a few hundred feet but not more than that. The internal breeding wreck havoc very quick.

At the very least manslaughter applies here. Hope this dude gets killed in a prison brawl.

You know it's midlife crisis one way ticket to boomerville when your friends and peers, not just on RS but also outside it, are all talking about prepping strategies and disaster response kits lol... no joke 3 of my friends have bought generators/solar/battery storage systems in the last few months.

It’s just the Alberta-ness slowly growing within you

Soon you’ll be yelling at liberals, wearing a bass pro shop hat, and giving the side eye to immigrants.
