(cue Mythbusters's golf ball dimple car experiment...) |
Anyone recommend an affordable place/service for a wax/polish? My car's paint has gotten some swirl marks, the clearcoat needs some buffering from the rough car washes down here in Texas, along with the drive down itself. Looking to have it done when I'm back in Vancouver next month. |
What's your budget? I know two friends who are running detailing businesses right now |
What can they do for 5 dollars ? |

2025 is off to a rough start. last night at the steam room: guy: aren't you worried about the steam and hot tub wrecking your apple watch? me: no, its been 3 years and its been fine. guy: ok, cuz ive heard *continues to tell me long ass story* me: *shrugs* today my apple watch stopped working. fucking jackass jinxed me :flamemad: |
This is why you don’t talk in a steak room or a sauna. It’s basic etiquette. You’re only supposed to stare at each others penises but not laugh or show any emotion on your face in this steamy dick comparison contest. The one who stares the longest wins. Then you got this jackass who likes to rub himself and make gay noises. Fuck that guy too. |

A few years back, I was in the Bahamas for a conference, a bunch of people went to swim with the pigs. I asked if anyone brought drybag/pouches for their phones. Most of the iPhone users were all "They're waterproof." Yeah, not for prolonged salt water immersion of the duration they were going to be I told them. Cue blank looks. A couple people heeded my advice and at least put their phones into ziplock bags. The next day about a 1/4 of the devices used unprotected in the ocean died. 30m is generally considered splash resistant. 50m is "swimmable". Once you get to 300M ratings you can safely swim and dive (rec scuba) without an issue. I dove the Great Barrier Reef with a 300M rated analog watch. https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/04...g?v=1618591299 Per apple: https://support.apple.com/en-us/109522 What should I avoid while wearing my Apple Watch? Water resistance isn't a permanent condition and can diminish over time. Apple Watch can't be rechecked or resealed for water resistance. The following can affect the water resistance of your Apple Watch and should be avoided: Dropping Apple Watch or subjecting it to other impacts Exposing Apple Watch to soap or soapy water (for example, while showering or bathing) Exposing Apple Watch to perfume, solvents, detergent, acids or acidic foods, insect repellent, lotions, sunscreen, oil, or hair dye Exposing Apple Watch models other than Apple Watch Ultra or later to high-velocity water (for example, while water skiing) Wearing Apple Watch while cliff diving or high diving Wearing Apple Watch in a steam room Wearing Apple Watch models other than Apple Watch Ultra or later in a sauna Wearing Apple Watch Ultra or later in a sauna above 55° C (130° F) |

I wear my CasiOak gshock into the sauna at least 2x a week no issues yet knock on wood. Speaking of saunas, I think I've become one of the old dudes who sauna at my local community center, as I'm one of the regulars now and all the other regulars I see are the old dudes who sauna. |
Casio recently making a sauna specific watch that they specifically designed for sauna and onsen use in Japan... s you know the regular stuff won't survive forever in those conditions. https://www.g-central.com/casio-is-c...atch-in-japan/ |

Try waterboarding it to see how it responds. Step 1: Place a piece of masking tape on the front screen and write "Hondaracer" on it. Step 2: Waterboard the device and say things like, "How do you like this liberal agenda? Trudeau is here to stay!" or something along those lines. Step 3. Report back on results. |
