Thats not even gonna get you a car wash.

MarkyMark 01-03-2025 10:57 AM

Anyone that's gonna wash and detail a car for $150 is going to give it back to you with more swirls than you dropped it off with.

roastpuff 01-03-2025 12:37 PM

You can give Sensha-Ya a shot for that much - that will get your their Platinum Car Wash iirc. They're not going to polish the car, but they'll clean it and slap a coat of wax on it.

bcrdukes 01-03-2025 12:39 PM

Are they still in business? Their official website expired, but I see their Facebook page is still up, despite no new updates since October 2024.

unit 01-03-2025 01:07 PM

yeah unfortunately polishing is a lot of labour so i cant really see anyone doing it for less than 300 even at the cheap place where manmeat will do it.

all the good places are going to be 600 and up. it's many hours of work.

Yes, they're up. They use FB and IG to communicate mostly.

Anyone try Fraser Carwash & Detail, always thought it was located in the strangest of places, a vestige of what once Fraser street was? Looks old school. Gets 4.2 google reviews, if that means anything.

they have a couple of packages - https://www.frasercarwash.com/special-offers

bcrdukes 01-03-2025 02:41 PM

If I recall correctly, supafamous recommended them in an old thread. I was always curious but never went there.

supafamous 01-03-2025 04:31 PM

Yeah, my wife took her car to Fraser car wash a couple times back in the day and felt they did a pretty decent job considering the pricing and she's difficult to please when it comes to cleanliness and attention to detail.

Picture of bulb and fixture label - https://imgur.com/a/AfDSfYT

Two bulbs in a three light bathroom fixture went out over time so I decided to replace them. However there is a slight burning smell when I turn on the power. Not sure if it's the halogen offgassing or some dust burning off.

There is no spec on the existing bulb for me to verify, so I bought the Philips bulbs from Home Depot. I assumed that the 100W meaning on the label is per bulb since I can't find any 33W or under T3 halogen bulbs. If 100W is total wattage for the fixture, that'd be the max wattage per bulb.

The new bulbs seem to be equally as bright as the existing bulb that still works, so that's sort of my thought process at the moment.

Any thoughts? Don't want a fire to start, lol.

You should be fine. My parents have a 4 bulb halogen light in their bathroom. I use 100W bulbs and no problem. It has the same sticker as yours.

They installed it back in 2003. I thought it was cool because it's like car lights in the bathroom. But over 20 years later:

They're too hot to leave on during summer months
They're a pain in the ass to change as the mounts get stiff. Sure they can be lubed but my parents never think that far ahead
The wall directly behind the fixture is all singed up from heat. Torch flame shaped :lol

But no fires, so you should be fine. The burning smell would be the dust since halogens don't require frequent changing.

EDIT: Grammatically, that sticker means 100w PER BULB

mikemhg 01-05-2025 08:31 AM

I had no idea the going rates, usually just did it myself, this is good though.

I'll check out Fraser Wash when back.

spoon.ek9 01-05-2025 09:09 AM

yeah your budget for a proper wash, polish and wax needs to be about triple your estimate lol

I used to do a hand wash and wax for friends at that rate. Cash jobs were much appreciated in my younger years :lol

I can still recommend my friends' businesses if you want a frame of reference for going prices. LMK and I'll shoot you a PM.

Turns out the middle bulb was defective. It blew out later in the night and was all black in the middle, lol, hence the smell.

I took a closer look at one of the bad bulbs and the reason I couldn't see the specs was because it rubbed off/burned off. I was still able to see a very faint etch of it saying 100W/130V.

I'm surprised these only last for 2000 hours. I'll probably just swap them out for the LED ones off of Amazon when they die.

If you’re into the Chego shit. There’s a Home Depot set on for half price at the Henning Drive (Burnaby) location. Regular $39.98 going for $14.99. The display has no boxes, but behind it are about 6 boxes left. 284-Pieces Home Depot Warehouse Building-Blocks Toy.

Model # THD1000 Store SKU # 1001878240

Richmond location on Bridgeport had at least 20 boxes at around noon today.

I guess not a big seller. No Lego, no want. Put that logo on it and it'd be five times the price and gone in five minutes.

Has anyone bought a Queen sized mattress from Costco before?

I'm just wondering if i'll be able to get it to my van by myself, will a costco employee help me? If I can just get it to my car, I'll be fine, but i'm just trying to think how to navigate a queen sized mattress through costco by myself.

I don't know how to get it from the back of the store through to the check out, even with those orange platform carts, it's too wide.

It's $175 more expensive if I buy it online with delivery, so I'd rather just go to Costco myself.

Hondaracer 01-06-2025 09:08 AM

If you ask up front at the service counter someone may help you.

Generally people seem to stand them up on the cart and walk them out. Just get a friend to help you, we bought one from there and one person held it up another person pushed the cart worked fine

68style 01-06-2025 10:11 AM

I seen a family of buddy guys pull up 3 cars to the front door of the Costco here and collectively throw 3 mattresses onto the roofs of all 3 cars an drive off. Even granny was in there hefting.

Put your back into it Peanutbutter... be crunchy not smooth

Razor Ramon HG 01-06-2025 10:18 AM

Are the mattresses not folded up into a box or wrapped up in a cylinder shape?

Badhobz 01-06-2025 10:19 AM

i lugged a KIng sized mattress myself. dont be a little nutty butter about it.

The traditional coil style ones are not folded/wrapped beyond a giant plastic bag.

You can move any mattress solo with a 4 wheel dolly, even the heavy ones. Im sure a costco employee can help you get it to your car

Doors, stairs, and sharp building corners are a different story tho
