However, my favourite nice occasion restaurant is Boulevard. How much do I like it? I went 5 times in between July and Dec and rang up $1700 there - did a celebration dinner there, a date night, took my in-laws for their anniversary, went with a couple buddies. It's super versatile, great service, outstanding food (the dessert platter is amazing), and a nice atmosphere. Why Botanist over my favourite place? The view is nicer and it feels fancier. You can also go to the Lobby Bar after and listen to live music. |

Welfare is on the horizon for me. :drunk: |
a few times when we were at ikea we thought it would be fun to try the food there but it's just glorified prison food at best. im sure prisoners in sweden are fed the exact same thing. |
Was at Richmond IKEA last weekend and needed some water, it's all immigrant families loading up on carbs like fries, pastries, free bread and a few meatballs. I was like - wtf kinda meals are these? It's like I was back at Uncle Willy's back in the day |

There should be a peice of pressure treated board behind the fascia so when the stair bolts bite into it, it actually maintains the connection without water ingress. They should also use some kind of sealant like NP1 or something where the bolt penetrates the fascia. This is an easy fix but finding someone to do it will probably be a headache Edit* the stringer also looks like it’s rotting so you’ll probably want to replace that as well if that middle seam where the mildew is is open and getting wet |

Great story on a a burger chain with no rules. Only immigrants could run a place like this. |
at the risk of incurring the wrath of westopher ... there is the Vancouver Dine Out going on ... ends by Feb 9th but I'm one that you don't have to do it on the day of (Feb 14th), 9th is close enough. Truckloads of restaurants are there including some nice ones like Bacchus, Published on Main and other Michelin recommends - https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/dine...r-2025-stellar Dine Out https://www.dineoutvancouver.com/restaurants/ |
yeah whats going on with that stringer with the lines in the middle? Is that just the paint cracking or what's going on there |

There’s very few like fine dining truly formal places anymore. Almost every restaurant in the city that makes the best of list is the casual dining experience Nightingale for dinner KIND OF straddles both although haven’t been there in a bit |
I strolled into Nightingale one recent summer evening in shorts, flip flops for Happy Hour. Typical Vancouverite. Yeah you're right but there's a few "old school" places that are still kicking around like Le Croc, Bacchus that aren't making any more of the "top" lists for decades but still have good atmosphere if not cutting edge cuisine . |
Gothams. i still like it even after the joker took over. |
Gothams is mainaldners with their kids and their dirty hands running around like it’s a McDonald’s play place. At least with Hy’s it seems like people feel it’s inferior to Gotham so you don’t get that shit there |
^ I don't think you'll find that on V-Day... I was there before I moved too and saw nothing of the sort |

I guess we should be living it up so long as we aren't robbing our future selves of happiness. Re the P-car, I dunno though: once you've had one, isn't car ownership just downhill from there :p? Is it decades of suffering from the feeling of "there's never gonna be better"? |

That said -- I really like Porsche's brakes. They just do it so right straight out of the factory that I wish other manufactuers would do the same thing too. So I am kind of ruined with that one. |

There’s always Alfa Romeo. That ruined me for life. |
Just get a 996/997 for a cheap... uhhh CHEAP-ER entry and then you wont feel so bad driving/tracking one. The new ones are just too insanely priced to make it worth while. Although the newest carrera S has the same performance as the 997 turbo :alone: makes you think why the fuck do you even need the TUrbo or anything else. Ill report back when that shanghainese girl takes me for a test drive in feb (after CNY) I'm going to bring dark0281818292929 along too, ill stuff him in the tiny little beetle bitch seats and he can rave and rant about how great this piece of shit is. |
