All this burger talk, I had to make some Beef is Aussie ground beef, I think they are about 150g each? They were huge. Just ground beef rounded and smashed into the pan, no ingredients other than salt after cooking I also made the buns, using a King Arthur recipe. The eggs I used were the premium ones we were talking about so they came out a nice yellow colour. Also used tangzhong method (if you bake bread, you know this) Also added bacon For me I just put on mayo, ketchup, mustard, pickles, cheese. My wife loads hers up with tomatoes, onions, lettuce, everything. She also made sweet potato.. fries? They were baked lol. Came out nice! https://i.imgur.com/heABwpy.png Cost about $5 each in ingredients, with the beef taking up the vast majority of that. |

I'm visiting Vancouver for a short bit before heading to the Island for my MBA residency. I'm actually meeting some of my MBA cohort members in Coquitlam on Saturday, February 15 in the afternoon. Perhaps this could be the first Geriatric Motoring Club meet. :considered: In all seriousness, yes, it would be nice to put a face to the name. And put away the idea that you're a Chinese guy. (you probably are, you egg!) |
Wow ... if you're back on the Island to do residency, that means bcrdukes is legit. MBA, impressive! You gonna change the world! Let's see how Feb pans out. I'll see if I can arrange a work trip to 416 around mid Feb to have a legit excuse to keep the anonymity going ... lol. |
I'll be back in Vancouver on March 8 to 12 too. :lol MBA - not impressive. I'm marching towards a path of financial ruin without any way to contribute back to society, and Hondaracer will blame me for driving Canada's deficit and student loan problem spiraling out of control. |
gf had a burger tonight too... lettuce wrapped, LAME! ive been really into caesar salads lately. what brand of dressing do you guys like? https://tnstatic.net/attachments/202...5-png.1074735/ |
I don't mind lettuce-wrapped burgers. They are quite good! |
I’m down for that geezer gathering in Feb !!!! Let me know which geezer mobile I should bring. |

2 tsp minced garlic 1 tsp anchovy paste 1 tsp capers 1 tsp dijon mustard 1 egg yolk 1 tbsp lemon juice 1 tsp worcestershire sauce I basically just mix all that shit together with olive oil until it hits the consistency I want. |
^ i buy a glass jar of anchovies and it is 1000X better, of course it costs a lot more too. |

I made this for Xmas dinner and it was a huge hit - a bit of work to get the kale all prepped but dressing itself was easy. |
https://www.cnn.com/2025/01/27/tech/...ina/index.html What is this Chinese A.I. Model? It is causing US stock markets to plunge today. -from the article: US stocks dropped sharply Monday morning after a surprise advancement from a Chinese artificial intelligence company, DeepSeek, threatened the aura of invincibility surrounding America’s technology industry. DeepSeek, a one-year-old startup, revealed a stunning capability: It presented a ChatGPT-like AI model called R1, which has all the familiar abilities, operating at a fraction of the cost of OpenAI’s, Google’s or Meta’s popular AI models. The company said it had spent just $5.6 million training its newest AI model, compared with the hundreds of millions or billions of dollars US companies spend on their AI technologies. The Wall Street Journal first reported the technology’s ultra-low cost. The S&P 500 fell by 1.4% and the tech-heavy Nasdaq plunged by 2.3%. The Dow was unchanged. Markets were substantially lower earlier in the session, but investors may have judged the sell-off somewhat overdone. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

US loves TikTok now again. They don't care about American jobs it's all a ruse. |
Back from 8 days in San Diego and Anaheim and boy, Californians sure drive fast (and their roads sure are poorly designed and poorly maintained). I was doing 90mph in the I-5 HOV lane and the G35 ahead of me was pulling away at a good clip while the Tiguan behind me was closing in steadily on me. Of the poor road design, I merged onto the HOV lane of I-405 (from the I-5 HOV lane) to get to the airport and I immediately had to cut across 6 lanes of traffic in about 300m in order to make my airport exit (about 10 seconds). This is what I'm looking at when I merge into I-405 (I'm doing about 75-80mph as I merge); note the lack of signage telling me that I have to cut across 6 lanes to make the exit. There's actually NO signage of any kind till I hit the exit - I was dependent on Apple Maps telling me that was my exit (I also missed this exit last May when I was in Anaheim). https://i.imgur.com/msfb8gF.jpeg Street view link: https://maps.app.goo.gl/TvK5c4ZYYxcAF7Pt5 And this is the exit I had to make: https://i.imgur.com/nB8VUSV.png Street view link: https://maps.app.goo.gl/BckCfTiYicFhh36c7 This kind of terrible road design is everywhere in California - missing or bad signage, poor road conditions, and a mishmash of exits that can send you every which way. I can't believe people just accept this kind of thing. |
you have to be paying 110% attention in and around LA when you get on and off hwys. it's so easy to miss an exit due to the fast pace. you have to be prepared for every ramp well in advance if you don't want to mess up. it helps to have a good gps that shows you all the lanes and which ones you need to be in not to fuck it up. |
It's not just California. Everywhere I go down there the layouts and signage are terrible compared to Canada. My favourite is how they'll have a merge halfway around a corner with no signs. |
aye and there is a lot of broke ass people who drive with zero insurance down there. Be careful, your canadian ass cant sue anyone if they got no insurance. |
WA I-5 HOV is like that too LOL - double solid white lined HOV lane.. but you have to cut 6 across (illegally) to exit. I find it definitely helps to have a 300hp+ car on American interstates. Everyone drives so much faster and it's a lot more aggressive than locally. I did a Portland drive, almost 10 years ago in the Civic pictured in my DP - 140hp. That was rough. Some dude tried to run me off the road and I couldn't get away LOL. |
If you use google maps and apple car play it typically tells you to be in “the second lane from the left” etc. well before the exit. Had a car for 4 days in LA last year, I didn’t really think much of it outside of having to get over a bunch of lanes but google seemed to give ample warning |

https://i.imgur.com/LWvuzz7.jpeg Guy is waiting to make a right turn into my lane/street and as I'm driving by (going about 30mph) he is way too optimistic and comes out too early and clips my rear corner. He was pretty good about things but I hope it doesn't get messy when the insurance claim goes through. Quote:
Side note: The EA888 is pretty laggy from a stop in contrast to the K20C. Below 2000 rpm nothing is going on - made those metered on-ramps interesting each time. At first I thought the transmission hadn't gone back into 1st. |

This is the spot just after I merge onto I-8 from my hotel and Apple Maps was only telling me to go to "Mission Bay Drive" which isn't on any of the signs and it didn't say which lane or exit to take. It's 6 lanes across and you've got 4 directions you can go. (The correct answer here was to cross 5 lanes in a couple hundred meters from right to left) https://i.imgur.com/soHyyH4.jpeg Street view link: https://maps.app.goo.gl/DgToj63GzszoDs7e9 |
Driving fast in LA is honestly the biggest scam ever - it's gonna take an hour to get wherever whether you're going 60 or 80. I just give up, stay in the 2nd lane from left and turn supercruise on lmao |
did they tune the Jetta differently than the GTI for the ea888? i dont find my hitlerbox laggy at all. |
