Nope.
Timmy's are franchised, the parent corporation does not save money on TFW's, the individual establishments do. That also doesn't amount to hundreds of millions of dollars.

Had dinner last night at The Boathouse on Arbutus. Set menu was $55 and actually pretty decent value I thought.
I got the lobster bisque but kind of regretted that after I saw how massive the Caesar salad was. The soup was good though, don't get me wrong lol. The main, I had the 7oz sirloin steak which was cooked nicely but was of course a bit tough due to the lack of marbling. Flavours were nice though, so no complaints there. Dessert was a pretty giant slice of raspberry cheesecake with fresh strawberries. It was big enough to share with the gf. Overall, I'd say that was a decent meal given the price |

haha I'm sure you have, but it is what it is. the 7oz sirloin on the regular menu alone is $39. so for another $16 you get an appetizer and a big ass slice of cake.

For $55 I got a lobster bisque, a 10 oz prime rib and a billy miner pie. There was a 7oz French onion sirloin option along with salads instead of the bisque.
Like the Boathouse I think $55 is pretty good value for what I got - everything was pretty good. Not my first choice if I want a steak but fine for taking my parents to.

^It's alright, it's white people's idea of what "Asian" food is so you'll get a lot of fried things with sweet chili type of stuff.
Atmosphere is nice enough for a few drinks though.

If you want some fancy tea and someone who can speak English, try Avenue 18 in Richmond at Union Square.
May not be the cheapest but the service and quality is pretty good. Be prepared to sample some teas and have a conversation with the owners. They are Taiwanese. Very hospitable so to say the least.
Disclaimer: I have not been there in over a decade, so things may have since changed significantly. I used to buy Hario products from them before there was a distribution channel in the Canadian market and they always went out of their way to get me rare items from Japan directly.

davids tea has quite a big selection if you're not looking for anything in particular. otherwise if you like green tea then i like chado on main st, but its more expensive premium stuff.

David's Tea is pretty bad. Try Great Wall Tea in New West. Owner is great.

Wow, the Boathouse. I totally forgot that place existed.
Up until maybe 10 or 15 years ago, it used to be quite a treat to go there. There was one in Horseshoe Bay that we'd go to once or twice a year when I was a teenager and it was considered fancy for us.

The last time I went to boathouse it was fucking terrible.
Went to the port moody one for lunch as it is a pretty decent location right next to the water and park.
Anyway, we were seated, it was pretty quiet. Didn't get acknowledged to order for like a good 20 mins, ordered a whole roast fish that was on special that day, another like 45 mins. The thing comes out and its fucking raw in the middle.
To westopher's point it was probably some 21 year old behind the grill who had never eaten, let alone cooked a whole fish before in their lives.
