How's the weather/condition up there today?

celica-g5 11-11-2011 08:06 PM

Terrible when I got up there at about 10:30. Foggy as hell and the line up at the chair lift was insane!! Me and a friend left as soon as we saw how bad it was. Not to mention that they reached their maximum capacity at around 11:15 and stopped selling lift tickets. I think I'll stay away from Cypress for at least the weekend.

Death2Theft 11-12-2011 09:24 AM

I didn't get up there till around 2 and it was hailing like crazy but 10 mins later it cleared up and was beeeeeaaaautiful! However I was doing back country.

BrRsn 11-12-2011 11:37 AM

Me and a group of friends want to learn how to board/ski, which mountain has the best classes/equipment rentals, and when would be the best day to go? Some of us know how to ski, some of us have zero experience, none of us know how to board. None of us have our own gear. Help RS? I got hooked last year, I thought it was fun as hell .. but I sucked. I really want to learn.

It would be cool if we could have a mixed class and be taught skiing or boarding at the same time.

nismosx 11-12-2011 01:41 PM

^^^^im willing to teach if you pay for my pass :D i wont run off ill actually stay and help a fellow rser
edit: cypress would be the best because they have a slow quad lift in the bunny hill best way to learn how to get on and off the chair lift safely

are you CASI certified to teach?

Today was GNAR. the coverage was much better than yesterday, the snow was falling HARD, and it's light and fluffy.

The freezing level has dropped signifigantly and will remain low for a while. With this rain we're seeing in the lower mainland, expect at least 15 cm over night.

Going up again with a few people again tomorrow.

nismosx 11-12-2011 02:58 PM

^^^^^no i am not certified in anyway im just throwing it out there ive taught some of my friends how to snowboard

max wait, 10 minutes

Vangruver 11-12-2011 03:11 PM

BTW, it'd be a really really good idea to get some winter/snow tires on your ride now.

lol one reason why im holding off on not going up is the lineups. hopefully this forecasted mid-week dump can open the rest of the freaking mountain, and the other 2 mountains as well.

grouse is scheduled to open friday.

supposed to snow on the hills all week.

Death2Theft 11-13-2011 07:56 PM

Eh this coming weeks forecast went from like 10+ cm of snow to like 3cm. At this rate prob another two weeks before anything else opens.

Which forecast are you looking at?? I'm looking at the mid mountain Grouse forecast Grouse Mountain 6 Day Snow Forecast & Skiing Weather for 1053 m and it shows 19cm by Friday morning.

Death2Theft 11-14-2011 07:35 AM

Oh never been to grouse and dont plan on going.

take the forecasts from grouse as the best possible sign of what's to happen at seymour and cypress.

Grouse has the lowest peak height, and is in a valley. While the mountains are within a close prox of eachtoher, cypress and seymour will always get more snow than grouse will.
