Hey guys I've been boarding for 3 seasons now and I'm finally in the market for a snowboard set.
I'm 5'6 145lbs shoe size 8.5. So, as suggested by a couple calculators, I'll need a board ~150cm high.
Not looking for anything fancy. But a good quality brand is preferable. maybe under $200 for the whole set?
Not picky on freestyle/free ride. Just want a good basic board so I can stop renting.
PM me if you or someone you know has a set for sale! Thanks
You can also check stores on west 4th. Sometimes they have board/binding sets for around 250 brand new, so that could be an option as well if you dont find anything on cl.
Anyone hitting up seymour on Friday? I think opening is supposed to be sometime around there. If not then ill be at cypress.

What do you guys prefer? I have a pair of ride boots for 8 years... Time for an upgrade edit I don't ride park at all just cruise with my friends for the most part. Posted via RS Mobile
Traditional is best to go as you can customize your lace pattern, introduce zone lacing, reduce or enhance stiffness of the boot, and also modify your ankle hold based on how you lace it.
This is obviously at a higher level, but large amount of pro-riders still use traditional lacing. Posted via RS Mobile
Anybody have links or guides on different lacing techniques?

My boots use standard laces. I was just never interested in the speed lacing technologies. Never even bothered to look at BOAs and such. Besides if the laces snap (and they look like they're about to...) they're probably cheaper to replace than BOA cables.

I don't have any images or guides, but if u go to any snowboard shop and ask one of the resident boot fitters, they should be able to show you a few tricks, like the pretzel and the double pretzel to get better heel hold. Posted via RS Mobile
Hey guys, im looking to get into snowboarding, gonna be purchasing my first board soon.....
Any tips? Is buying an older board okay?
Sportchek has the K2 anagram on sale for $159.99 this week from $319.99
Fantastic deal, its got catch free rocker which will make learning to ride a bit easier Posted via RS Mobile
When I used to snowboard I think I had that internally ankle support thing where you just reefed on it to secure your ankle within the boot then did the traditional laces up on top of it. I was never a fan of having a bulge down on top of your toe or increased "sensitivety" for turning and the same goes for gas pedals, wasn't a fan.
159 sale on now... I'm thinking of buying one myself... what is this board BAD for? It can't be great for everything... I'm wondering what downsides would this board have compared to like ~$500 Burton board? weight? flex? core issue?

It is more of an entry level board
Not going to be as stiff or as responsive as say a burton custom
However it is a great learning board
It has minimal rocker with a mostly flat profile, it is not a "deep pow" board.
Overall it is a fantastic deal for $160 Posted via RS Mobile
oh, k thanks I guess I'll hit Guildford Mall tomorrow morning..thanks Skiipi!
Good luck! I would reccomend you call around first before heading out.
We had some 161s this afternoon when I left work (in richmond) Posted via RS Mobile
got it nice and early was only two left a 155 and a 161 i snagged.... the worker said people went in yesterday and bought a lot O_O
so rule of thumb...if you want a sale at sportscheck go the day before two hours before the store closes..lol

Nice work! There's no better feeling than getting something for a good price! Any snowsport you partake in can provide you a great thrill even if its not on the best gear. Fact remains, not every pro rider will opt for the top level snowboard or ski for their uses. They generally choose whatsbest suited for the terrain they're riding!
Let us know how that snowboard performs, the best way you can. Posted via RS Mobile
