how serious is ubc about parking tickets? got a letter in the mail about a ticket i didnt pay..and was wondering if they can actually impound my car like they say they can.
They have trucks that scan license plates and they tow people with unpaid tickets. I don't know if they'll impound your car if you have only one ticket though.
the thing is I dont go to UBC and I got a new car so the car with the tickets is sitting at home in white rock being driven by my parents... so I guess its safe to not pay it haha

Give you guys a story about Saturday (the night the sixth assault happened). Me and my friends went to party and were passing by the SUB to take a piss. So as we are walking through we see 3 security guards just chilling, having a good time and talking. They see us, stop us, then proceed to check our bags. They took about 3 bottles of water (didn't even mix anything in yet lol) because it looked suspicious. This was at 1030 pm.
So my question is. Shouldn't these guards be doing their job outside the SUB? I mean the sixth assault happened near Gage which is like two minutes away OUTSIDE. And it's a weekend of halloween parties. Seriously.
I bet you they are useless and just gonna be a waste money. Like how the CUS proposing $100,000 a year to pay a sexual assault counselor. Money well spent.

yeah, no offense to AMS security or anything, but they could definitely be put to better use.
on the other hand, maybe i'm misinformed, but I think they have securities dedicated for the sub just cus it's one of the busier buildings at ubc so it could be a reason why they're not off premises.
With the recent outbreak of sexual assaults, I think its a red flag for ubc to start prioritizing "our" money for better purposes...
one of these days, a girl won't be lucky enough to slip by unscathed.

I read somewhere they are posting 2 security guards per campus housing unit for the next while. Can't say much for the AMS security.....though they handed out rape whistles recently.
let's hope all the girls are lucky enough to slip by unscathed....
