Yeah I do, which should've actually been my first choice all along cause it was the thing I genuinely wanted to study, which is human geography/urban planning. So everything's good to go on that front

GPA: 82.xx (w/ drops), 81.xx (w/o drops)
LSAT: 170
My GPA was below average but LSAT was above average. UBC only looks at GPA/LSAT, not extracurriculars. Its a hard numbers school unlike UofT.
Are you considering law school?

Are you considering law school? | not necessarily.. just wanted to get some insight on how competitive UBC graduate programs are in general. Also, my sisters preparing for the LSAT soon so wanted to get an idea
Not sure if you're in on this too, but how does UBC compare to like say TRU and UVIC?
side note though, did a few LSAT practice questions for fun, and its actually quite fun! But I can imagine it being a pain in the ass if you're pressured to do well on it haha

UBC Med and Law are really competitive. Only UofT is more difficult in terms of admissions.
As for UVic and TRU Law, if you can get into UBC then go for UBC. UVic is a good school but UBC is more highly regarded, has a greater selection of classes and is conveniently located in Vancouver so networking is easy.
I wouldn't pick TRU. Their tuition is almost double UBC's and the quality of education and job prospects after finishing are not quite there yet. It also has a reputation as a safety school - if you cannot get into UBC and also cannot get into UVic then TRU is your only choice.
Haha yeah the logical reasoning section of the LSAT is pretty fun. Its like mind games. I do remember it getting very stressful, especially for me because I needed a higher LSAT.
Good luck to your sister! Is she applying to UBC? If she has any questions or concerns I'm happy to help.

Missing 12 credits of 1st and 2nd year GEOG/GEOB courses, recommend I take them first before moving onto the 3rd and 4th year GEOG/research stuff?

I would assume anyone with the aspiration of becoming a lawyer would care to update themselves on current events, politics, contemporary issues, would someone who is not as well-versed with these topics have a hard time keeping up in law school?

Class makeup in terms of educational background? There were a lot of poli sci majors but I don't think that helped them much beyond knowing how the government works, the electoral system, how bills are passed, etc.
They really emphasize that background doesn't matter - you could have done Asian Studies or Geography and excelled at law school.
Keeping up with current events, politics and SCC cases can help depending on your interests and what area of law you want to go into. But again, not necessary.
Its more about what you make of it. Its a lot of work but at the same time it was really fun for me. I miss seeing my friends every day and going to class haha.

last stretch of summer before classes begin again for those who are still attending UBC, who's down for a pre-school meet sometime in the first week of September before classes begin? Otherwise a good place to meet is at the UBCSCC ice breaker that always happens on the top of North Parkade.

It's not possible to opt out of Athletics and Recreation Fee. It's basically there to pay for varsity sports team, aquatic centre use & random fitness/rec activities. Bullshit i know.. |

Man why did UBC have to install gigantic offset double speedbumps at the entrance and exit of North Parkade
Also I'm 100% confident they are taller than Vancouver speedbump bylaws allow them to be. I saw stock height sedans scraping over them the other day...
Stop wasting our money UBC.

Does the good ol' stretch of Marine Drive count? haha
And fuck those speed bumps, they're at Thunderbird too. My car's close enough to stock, and it's nailing those stiff stock mud guards unless I inch across.

Also, I wonder if enough people file a complaint to UBC they'll consider doing something about those massive speedbumps. I wonder which genius thought that was a good idea.
Signed up for GEOB103 to satisfy my low-level credits, prof was TBA and I went to class for the first time today and the prof is some old Brazilian dude that might as well be lecturing in Portuguese, cannot understand a word he says. Went on SSC and instantly switched class to 2nd term with a well-rated prof. Instapeace outta class
