From my own experience in the co-op program, a lot of them don't ask for transcripts. Those that do are mostly government jobs, or government funded jobs, or highly sought after jobs: like investment banking, etc. They usually say very clearly in the job description. So if your grade is bad and they require transcript, I wouldn't bother.
The guy above is right. Almost all students have no experience. But they don't rely on grades to evaluate you. That's so 1990s. These day, after the ATS system screened you, the employers use your resume and the interview to evaluate if you can do, want to and fit the job. I'd say being likeable and have sales skills are much more valuable than some percentage number on your transcript.
However, the reality is you still gotta keep your cumulative grades at a respectable level. It's like wiping your ass: Nobody wants to do it but you gotta do what you gotta do. I myself loath studying course that I have no interests in. But hey, you gotta get that degree. Then you can say "sayonara bitches".
Also tailored made resume/ cover letter is a must. Don't even bother throwing in generic ones. It's a pain in the ass but that's what it takes.

How competitive is it to get into the DAP? I have friends who've taken it and some that are just about to start this summer too.

It's a program you consider applying for when you're in the fourth year of an undergrad program that's unlikely to help you find a decent job post-graduation, or if you couldn't transfer into Commerce during undergrad. |

Isn't DAP also very popular with kids in science after their 4th year for whatever reasons (bleak job prospects etc)

^Pretty much.
Being accepted into DAP is not hard, I've heard people with 60s got in it too. However, maintaining a good average once in the program is another thing.

I think DAP is a cash grab. But don't quote me on that. |

^Yes! It is a cash grab, especially at almost $700 a course. The classroom is very packed. Also, to admit more students, they use just empty classrooms at night and hire more instructors.

There is some good news though. My friend finished DAP in UBC and is now in PwC. He is climbing pretty fast too.

I'm studying out at Macmillan (LFS building, diagonally across from Forestry). Open 24 hrs with a big study area on the 3rd floor. 3rd floor gets busy and can get noisy so I stay in the basement during the day and go upstairs at night.
And yes, I went to the prep 101 for math 105
