Yeah, the learning goals are in the lecture notes. To be more clear, i was wondering if the midterm is based on the lecture notes or does it include the stuff in the textbook, because the textbook has a LOT more info than the lectures.
Uh hard to say , I actually had a few questions from the textbook, which wasn't in the lecture notes. MAJORITY of questions are based around the learning goals like they said. So what I kinda did was skim/read through the textbook once/twice, and then focus mainly on the learning goals and lecture notes.
I just checked and got no reply back yet. We're still in the interviewing process. Wont be till next week for us
Personally, i thought i did pretty well. Went in and said my shit confidently and with a good attitude. However, i dont think she really liked my interview compared to the other people there cus it seemed like she was alot warmer and welcoming towards them. Id feel pretty cheated out if i didnt get in though, because I actually exposed alot of my job connections to her and she told me she wants to set up coop opportunities with the connections i had mentioned to her. If she really did do that, id feel like a pretty used up tool. Posted via RS Mobile
^ yeah Coop does not always work in favor for everyone so don't worry about it too much if you don't get in imo. The sessions that they have to build resumes and cover letters, etc are pretty useful though.
When I was in coop I hated it because it didn't really seem to work in my favor.
-my coop tried to get my company to hire more students, so just like you instantneedles I felt used as a stepping stone for coop to get connections within the company i worked for
-I paid for the program but in the end I found a job for myself outside of the program
-I pretty much paid them 2100 bucks over 3 semesters in which I had to write 3 reports (I know this is part of the program but I felt I could have just not taken coop and didn't have to deal with the reports + wasted the money like some other students)
-THE WORST point: My 3rd coop term resulted in a failing mark because the office SCREWED up on their part (didn't process my documents properly) which i feel affected my last semester of coop placement that resulted in me NOT finding a job....and then ultimately dropping coop... and finally resulting with a "W" on my transcript for coop
But I also requested to stay in vancouver for my last coop term as well so my last point could partly be my fault as well haha. still if anyone asks me, I tell them coop sucks in my opinion

wow that sucks big time man. definetly not looking forward to those reports I have to write. But like you said, I'm in it for the workshops they give to help me brush up my interviewing/resume building skills.
It's really stupid that they have to make students look for their own jobs because then that just totally defeats the whole purpose of the program in the first place.
you have no idea how cheated i felt when she actually looked at my resume and copied down all of the volunteer/work experiences I had with companies.
There are no principles, there are only events. There is no good and bad, there are only circumstances. The superior espouses events and circumstances in order to guide them.
Reports are always part of the co-op program, for all faculties. If you can, try and get your employer to label the report as confidential, so that it's only marked by your manager. Your manager usually doesn't make a big effort to mark it and the topic can be more flexible.
As for the tuition, that's a given since you get 'credits' for the co-op terms. You're basically paying the connections that the office has. If you have job connections already, then I wouldn't bother with the program. That's really the sole purpose of the program; it's to give you access to job opportunities and help you with cover letters, resumes and job interviews.
I don't know about Science co-op, but with Engineering, you can find your own jobs and make it your work term, pending approval from your co-op supervisor. But like I said, if you can find your own jobs, then you don't need co-op.
what does the personal profile look like and what kind of questions do they ask?
would i be likely to get into kinesiology with say a 84% average, but a good profile?

It isn't new. Sauder students have been writing them for some time now (they were called supplementals/broad based admissions)
Starting with the acceptance for the 2012-2013 year (the year im in), they made EVERYONE write a personal profile( basically a supplemental) instead of just Sauder kids. This is so the campus has more diversified people instead of people who are just academic oriented The questions I had last year were

Please include any additional information that you would like the Admissions Committee to consider when reviewing your application. (maximum 100 words)
Keep in mind that I have 2-3 questions more than every other broad based. In regards to the 84% average, My friend with a 93% average applied for kin and did not make it, and her supplemental was pretty good, so try and get the highest marks you can! Also, faculties outside Sauder generally don't care that much about your supplemental, so I would just study everyday and get that average up!
I have an interview with Goldcorp Inc. - Home tomorrow ( not through coop). What is the process you guys usually go through to prepare for an interview? I haven't done one since my highschool days. They are primarily a gold mining company with the board of directors having business backgrounds.

One of my buddies said that the UBC parking staff are striking with all the other different groups today so you can park anywhere on campus and not worry about tickets. Anyone hear about that? I'm letting him test it out..
