Are you a tech savvy UBC student with lots of availability in your course schedule? An IT department in UBC is hiring a tier 1 tech. If you are the computer guy in your family and friends, build your own computer, and love helping people out, I encourage you to apply. Check Careers Online for job ID 796377.

I did 355 with Malhotra. It's ok exams are multiple choice and short answer and some questions are straight out of myeconlab. This was three years ago though.

I took it in 2008, with two profs - one was in a wheelchair. They may still be teaching it. The course was interesting, talking about gentrification among other stuff, but the weekly discussions were not. The weekly articles in discussion couldn't pique me enough to talk about them.

haha I'm finding even the lectures kinda dry. My prof right now is a 30-something Asian lady who, in fact, says "in fact" way too often.

My Dad holds season passes to almost all the big TBird teams (Basketball, mens and womens vball, hockey) and hes always talking about the fairly high quality for price.

Unless you meant Canucks once it starts being aired. If you're a first year in residence, figure out which buildings/floors have huge TVs. Mine had a 55" last year.

Yeah I meant the Canucks and some live hockey. Don't live on campus but few of my friends and I finish at around 5-6ish so was hoping on odd days to catch the game somewhere then go home.

Took COMM 473 with Ron Mackinnon. He's rude and believes he's funny when he's not but he literally reused the past years midterm. Got a perfect score on that midterm. Material is easy enough if you do practice problems. I ended up with a solid A.

Took COMM 493 with Momo Deretic. Class is ok depending on your group mates. Final is tricky you really need to understand the concepts.

Yea, she's really elaborate in her lecture so there's really not that much of a point getting the book except for the cases. She has all hand written notes in all her lectures so if you don't like writing, laptop is probably easier, except when it comes to her diagrams

Thanks everyone! I've decided to hand-write her notes because it's such a hassle like Selanne said to draw her diagrams on the computer.

To those who are in commerce: I'm taking an elective right now, and it's definitely easy as hell to pass it, but also takes some effort (not too much) to be a GPA booster. Should I take it as a GPA booster or just for credit/d/fail? Not sure if overall GPA matters to recruiters.
