Would you recommend this? My headlights are hazed over like theres no tomorrow
Yes. I would recommend this. I've tried the traditional wetsanding by hand procedure a dozen times before trying this 3M restoration kit with a drill. This is what they look like after its all finished without Lamin-X or clear coat:
Gimme a thumbs up on YouTube if you like the videos. If no, its all good, we still cool
The headlights look great but the real test is if I will be able to see at night. I have retrofit headlights. TSX Projectors with E46 shrouds and I literally cannot see shit at night, in the rain and with any oncoming traffic. I can only see when I'm on a pitch black road with no street lights. I'll go for a quick spin around town and see how the output is. If I can see better then I'll report back with positive comments but if I still can't see then I'm going to try out new ballasts or a whole new HID kit and try again. If still nothing then its either the headlights are crap or my visibility standards are way through the roof lol. Either use Lamin-X once you're finished using the 3M restoration kit or spray some clear coat on it. It's the final step for ultimate protection. You would have to take it to a body shop for that unless you have the equipment and materials yourself.

Thanks I'll try this Collonite 845 you speak of. Where would I find this product?
You need to mask off the area around the headlights as using the 3M restoration kit requires a drill or other high speed sanding thingy. So I don't want to sand over my fresh paint. I usually take the whole front bumper off and remove the headlights as I can really get in the corners but I was kind of lazy.

I only notice a difference in appearance but not much difference in light output. Maybe my bulbs are wearing out, if that's even possible with HID's? I don't really know. Maybe I should switch to 5000K bulbs or perhaps I need to aim them a little more towards the middle. Whatever the issue may be, I'm still not getting the same results as others have on their retrofit Prelude headlights. Maybe I'm just going crazy and I need to have my eyes checked. hah.

New coils going on in 2 weeks since these ones are spun all the way down. Also getting the wheels refinished this winter, with 5mm shaved off the back pads so I can tuck them with out going too crazy on camber adjustments. (mk5 front camber is fixed which sucks too)

Thank you. this is really awesome. your headlights were pretty bad, but mine are A LOT worse as they stand right now. i'll take a picture of them tomorrow hopefully it'll be decent enough out. my headlights are so hazed and cloudy that i only see my headlights about 6 feet infront of me on the ground and the only time i see my cut off is when i'm about the same distance from the car infront of me (i have hid retros too). maybe it's cuz my eyes are getting worse, or they're actually that bad. Hopefully you can get back to me soon about the visibility at night because I'm pretty close to jumping on to new headlights.
Thanks
just watched your "i can't see at night video" on your channel. You have A LOT more visibility than I do at night and I'm assuming that was before the 3m kit.
looked at a car on the oncoming lane for 2-3 secs cus it caught my attn and was accelarting at the same time from 0 to about 30-40km and when i looked back it was too late lol yes i know fail in my part..rookie mistake
