Is there any way to look up an Audi A8's service history with the VIN?

Looking at this A8 down in Seattle. There's some odd stuff in the pictures the guy sent me, namely missing rear bumper trim. He says he's done timing belt, but something seems off.

VIN is WAUFL54D71N000879.

I know that when I pull up a CarProof report, any accidents will show up, but I'm concerned about the repair history.

Lastly, the car has a tear in the leather of the passenger front seat. Is that something repairable, or would I need a new seat.

Thanks.

You have to ask the previous owner to provide service history receipts.

Generally, only warranty repair work is reported to the manufacturer, and stored in their central database. This is only visible to an employee with a login. For example I can look up and warranty repair history for any Ford.

Service jobs are only stored in the computer of the specific dealer that did the work. I can see what service my store has done on a Ford, but I can't see what service other dealers have done.

I'm pretty sure Audi would be the same way. I would be very impressed if a Vancouver Audi employee can see the service history of an Audi from the states.

Does they owner have records of where the work was performed so you can double check?

Since it is a US vehicle, it's only possible to check for any warranty work that's been done to it (Like Sandor said above)

Any other work that's customer paid will have to be seen from any invoices they left over by the owner or if you could somehow call the dealer that did the work and ask.

PM me if you need to know any warranty work on the car, I could help you out with that if you need

It depends on which year the car in question is.

Audi like all European manufacturers switch to paperless / electronic in the early - mid 2000s.. US dealers should be able to see US cars history based on the VIN. Just don't expect dealers to offer the service for free though, unless you are there for a PPI or something.

Still do a carproof though, because service records might not show if the car fall afoul of the lemon law.. (unless it is a lease).

if it doesnt get serviced at dealerships, then its tougher to find reports... unless you know the shop it gets serviced at...
