The Seagate 600 is also on sale right now. For only a few dollars more, this is a much newer drive, and seems to get some very solid performance numbers. I would pick this one over the Kingston HyperX 3K.

240gb for 140. not sure about reliability of this one but IIRC its decent?
Skinny can u chime in?

Traum 07-25-2013 08:15 AM

We've talked about this drive (in a similar deal) on Page 93. It's a good drive based on the SandForce SF-2281 controller. It isn't the latest and greatest, but it is a pretty solid performer. For $150, it's a good buy.

trancehead 07-25-2013 11:22 AM

thanks. gone now anyways lol for any perspective buyers

i came from a 120gb intel ssd to a crucial m4 i 256 got last year. still going strong and havnt exceeded capacity

SSDs are wonderful especially when running virtual machines. (got mac os x running for work, its sweet)

Hehe 07-25-2013 06:35 PM

If any of you already got SATA SSD, I'd wait a bit if you are not in a hurry for upgrade.

There should be a bunch of "affordable" PCI-e based SSD coming sometime in Oct.

1GB/s+ on a single drive! :D

Can anyone here lay out a complete list of parts for 24 bay Server ?

Raid is not necessary.

Thanks :)

Any good computer cases for sale?

I think he meant for Fahrenheit :lawl:

Traum 07-25-2013 11:12 PM

170 deg F is only around 77 deg C, so I wouldn't say it's outrageous.

G-spec 07-26-2013 07:56 AM

hey guys it's been I think around 6 months since I built my PC maybe a bit more, anyway just wondering when the 660 GTX TI will be dropping in price. I have the EVGA one right now and I wanted to add another one for SLI.

I noticed a bunch of new video cards came out and I assumed that would drop the price of the 660 down, but it's still almost the exact same as when I bought the card 6+ months ago...
I only need a little bit more juice to get a consistent 60fps on ultra settings in Rome Total War 2 that's coming out in a month.
Another 660 would do it easily, but I was expecting it to be no more than $200 after taxes by now, it's still up there close to $300 though.

If you guys got any suggestions on maybe another card that has at minimum twice the power of my current 660 gtx TI 2gb that would cost around the same amount I'm willing to spend right now ($200 + whatever I would get for selling my current 660)
then please suggest away, thanks

Picked up a 250GB 840 NON-pro for 153% + 5$ shipping + tax. = 174$..

not too bad..considering 840 EVO is coming out..and especially with TLC NAND Shortage

Razor Ramon HG 07-26-2013 09:31 PM

My laptop hits load 80 degrees during gaming.

77c is fine. Grab an aftermarket heatsink if you are worried.

In terms of mechanical keyboards, would you guys go Ducky or Filco?

I'm looking at switching my SteelSeries 6Gv2 to a different keyboard. I really dislike the "| \" placement.

I picked up the Filco Majestouch 2 Ninja Cherry MX Red Switch 104 Key Mechanical Keyboard Black and it seems like a really good deal for $124. Was thinking of returning it and getting maybe Shine 2?
