Only other drive is the normal 840, which has the same problem as the 830 apparently. The only other site that tests consumer drives like I do, AFAIK, are hardocp and anand, and anand doesn't test for steady state curve. Hardocp tests fresh and steady separately, which shows that the 840 sucks (at this low capacity) when used:  
Disregard the V300 100% random result they throw in - it doesn't represent real world data in any way. I do my tests at 46% which is about the same as what you get with real data you use every day.
V300 is my recommended budget drive, but sometimes you can get a Sandforce based MLC drive (instead of toggle) for the same price if you catch a sale.

I reviewed an ADATA Sandforce asynchronous MLC drive, and it was just like any other Sandforce asynchronous MLC drive (including the crash bug before the big firmware update)

Why would you need to load games on your SSD?

Why would you need to load games on your SSD? | Faster load times? Smoother transitions? The usual reasons why SSD is superior to traditional HDD.
I wouldn't recommend storing data on SDD just yet, but OS and frequently used programs (including games) seem like they should be the prime candidates to keep on the SSD.

I wonder where my SSD stacks up...also SF-2281 controller but 24nm Toshiba Toggle NAND...probably look at the Kingston 3K as it's the closest in spec?

Performance wise, it will be around the same as most MLC based Sandforce drives (like the Kingston 3K) but will maintain its speed at lower capacities (ie the 120gb version will be like a 240gb MLC drive)
