dont waste money on 690...unless you are absolutely sure you are okay with a dual GPU card
780 is significant slower but does the job well for 1440p....bigger faster chip and has a 1GB more VRAM (remember 2+2GB on the 690 still means 2GB)

rabbitboy 08-31-2013 01:25 AM

set up dual monitors, so worth it

CRS 08-31-2013 04:02 PM

Not that it really matters but does anyone have any preference for...

Asus 24F1ST 24x SATA Drive vs. a Samsung 224DB 24x SATA Drive

Asus costs like 2 dollars more over the Samsung but I can't the difference other than the brand?

Man that 915 looks badass for a uATX case.

knight604 09-02-2013 02:50 AM

Thinking of getting corsair 550d or 650d can anyone chime in?

J.C 09-02-2013 04:07 AM

can't go wrong with either
using the 550d at the moment and had a 650d lying around at one point

knight604 09-02-2013 11:01 AM

Do you know if the 650 is significantly louder than the 550?

Mr.Money 09-02-2013 03:31 PM

oh goodie, look what's releasing soon, good thing i didn't put out that order list yet.
ASUS releases the 20Gbps Thunderbolt motherboard | Techinstyle.tv

twitchyzero 09-02-2013 03:37 PM

they already released a Thunderbolt version for the Z77 Delxue last year...it was like $200 more than the regular Deluxe cost just a bit south of $500

so unless you need it professionally (photography/video edit for work) I wouldn't bother

and hot damn...those gold coloured VRM heatsinks are ugly as fack haha

roastpuff 09-02-2013 10:57 PM

Hey, has anyone used an Intel NUC or the Gigabyte equivalent? I'm interested in making a mini system for use with the TV, and another one for my girlfriend. It's either one of those or a Zotac Dbox.

its not significant, but it's noticeable

knight604 09-03-2013 08:02 AM

Ended up buying the 550d, 650d wasn't in stock.

It is very quiet and i love the designs of corairs!

First time swapping/building it, was fun and learned some things!

yeah, good idea....unless I'm going to be editing 4k epic red camera footage i don't think i need it,it was only because i wanted to future proof much as possible...whenever usb 3.0 becomes the normal, which i don't think will...64gb usb 2.0 vs 3.0 .....i think people will go whats cheaper & say "ahh i got time".

I'm gonna buy a 4770K for my gaming rig. Should be just as fast as the 4960X, but a third the price and way more power efficient

Yeah I know what youre saying..I was in the same position considering TB...mobo/cpu/ram is what you'll upgrade the least so it's smart to get something that's gonna last

750D is coming...dunno if if it's worth waiting for (supposedly revealed at end of this month)

until you start doing more cpu instensive work...

4cores 8 threads vs 6 cores 12 threads..
almost half the cache and memory channel...

Is that a Windforce graphics card in your build?

G-spec 09-04-2013 10:41 PM

So with your guys help I build a pretty solid computer for basically one game and one game only.....
well game just came out, and it's an unoptimized piece of shit performance wise, it has both the company SEGA and NVIDIA rushing to push out the first of what I expect to be many patches for this game....
to quote the text from the thread itself... just one of the many issues happening with the game, this is on high graphic settings btw for some people... shit, should these guys look like zombies even on low settings for fcks sake, lol

Any thoughts on the AMD FX-8350 Processor?

I am looking to upgrade my PC which is currently an AMD Phenom 2 X4, so really anything is an upgrade.

Any recommendations on a board to pair this with?

Thanks

A good alternative to Core i5 overall but uses a lot more power and gets hotter.
