I personally don't have very high demands from my network gear, so I tend to pick the cheapest stuff that works. From my experience, the USB ones are a lot more flexible than the PCI-E ones because it is generally easier to put the USB receiver somewhere (via an extended USB cable) that has good reception, and you don't waste any of your precious PCI-E slots.

telus actiontec router is a POS.. the wireless is so useless... as soon as I closed my door, the signal drops by half... my room is RIGHT across from the study room, where the telus modem is plugged in..

I bought myself the powerline and never looked back... I bought a wireless powerline the other day because my parents where getting annoyed with the wireless signal... Plugged the wireless powerline in the hallway and disable the wireless signal on the telus modem and now the wireless is awesome upstairs AND downstairs..

now they can watch their shows on their TVpad2 they bought at yohan...

oh snap....$1,199.99 for the 4960X at ncix.
Intel Core i7 4960X 6 Core Extreme Edition 3.6/4GHZ 15MB Unlocked Hyperthreading LGA2011 Processor

but gaming performance shows only a 5% gain.

Great... got a WHEA uncorrectable BSOD yesterday. Worst out of the worst to troubleshoot.

Anyone gone through this? I suspect its my CPU/PSU/RAM/Mobo... Going to take a look time. I didn't catch the specific error code, but I will take a look at the dump file when I get home from work

no point running 3 unless you have the GPU horsepower to run games in eyefinity/surround

Somebody was looking for a Dell UltraSharp earlier?

UltraSharp U2312HM 23-inch Widescreen Flat Panel Monitor : Parts & Upgrades | Dell Canada

It's a good price and I'm debating whether I can live with just 23" 1920x1080 instead of the 24" 1920x1200 that I prefer.

Hmm...

LOL

Thats what ForbiddenX and I were debating.

24" or 23" with no guarantee of what the price for the 24" will be.

^ The 24" will most likely be 279.99 or 269.99. most likely be tomorrow or friday's daily deal with dell.

Also, Broadwell? Aimed mostly towards mobile computing....I think the performance diff is minimal.
AnandTech | Intel Demos 14nm Broadwell: Up to 30% Lower Power than Haswell

Been piecing together parts for a while now and I think I've got everything I need to get started and build my own PC for the first time. I'm actually pretty excited although because I am clumsy as fuck there is a nagging feeling I'm going to wreck something.

discharge yourself first!.. nothing worse then shocking one of the components...

also a tip from Linus.. Pre-assemble outside of the case quickly to make sure it boots up.. nothing worse then having put everything in and it doesnt work, then you gotta take out of the case and figure whats wrong...
