Hey guys, I just got a new computer for free and I"m thinking about gaming on PC again after a 10+ year absence. I'm not looking to go full gamer but I want to know if this PC is ok enough to play current games without many issues. Yes, I'm a noob when it comes to this. It's just one of those HP computer you buy at the store. I guess it's mainly the Video Card I'm not so sure if it's good enough or not for current games. Intel i7-3770 CPu @ 3.4-GHz 12.Gb Ram 64-bit Operating System AMD Radeon HD 8570 |
definitely need a new video card |

Thanks guy any recommendations on a cheap ($200 or less) card that's good bang for the buck. Additionally, Do i need to worry about compatibility issues? Is installing as simple as, removing old video card and slapping new one in? |
Depends how big your case is and what kind of mobo you have .. But should work though |
^^^...yes.....You will need to go in control panel>uninstall program then select whatever brand of graphic card app it is. |
In the 200 range, I would suggest a 660, or a HD 7850. I would ensure that you're power supply has a high enough output to support the video card. As mentioned, making sure there is space. As for the slot, you won't have to wrry about it, for sure it'll be running PCI-E 2.0. Just make sure you have a 8x or 16x slot. It should be in the tech specs of the computer. Edit: seems like the 660 TI is still around 230s, the 660 OC should be good enough. I like the asus one, since it has a nice cooler one it. Specifically, the Direct CU II model. |
See if you can find a 660 ti oc on sale, picked up my windforce version for $230. Posted via RS Mobile |
If you can get a 660 for around 200, then go for that. Definitely would pick that over the 7850, as the 660 performs more like a 7870. |
Pulled the trigger on u2412, I think that's the lowest price I've seen so far. Posted via RS Mobile |
^^ That's a good price on the u2412. I think it's the cheapest I've seen by about $20. |

Need to get a SSD for my laptop. Currently my desktop have one and it feels like my desktop runs a lot faster than my laptop although spec wise my laptop should be better (other than the SSD). Everything just take ages to load on the latptop lol. Is it easy to install a SSD on a laptop? Currently using a HP DVT6. |
Not sure about yours but on my G75VW , it was so simple as they designed it with doors for the HD , then it just plug and play. |
most laptops are relatively easy to replace the hard drive. remove the back covering and you will see the hard drive. |
