Wasn't this thing selling for $89.99 at NCIX during Black Friday / Cyber Monday?

How is this combo? FX 8320 + Gigabyte 990

AMD FX-8320 Processor Bundle w/ Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 Motherboard at Memory Express

Would you guys recommend something else? Budget is $800 after tax, don't need monitor, mouse, keyboard. Looking to play BF4.

I recently built this computer (although i7 is on the way/using a G3220 meanwhile):

Zalman T2
i7-4770K
Gigabyte GA-B85M-D3H
MSI 660TI Power Edition
4GB Samsung DDR3 RAM
ADATA 128GB SSD
Rosewill 750W PSU

Costed me a little over 600 (Intel Retail Edge discount on CPU, GPU/RAM/PSU were bought used)

You could use that as a base build? As for your question, if you are set on getting an AMD, I would recommend you get a cheaper 970 board over the 990FX such as http://products.ncix.com/detail/asro...72135-1223.htm. Unless you plan on upgrading the CPU in the future with a newer AM3+ (in which you may run into problems with compatibility) or need SLI/CrossFire then the 970 will do you just fine at a fraction of the price. Although if your budget permits, I would go Intel with an i5-4570.

* Slight edit, please take a look again, gYU.

Just bought the 600T Silver case for $70 + tax. Is it a good deal and hows the case in general?

BF4 is not that demanding, that would handle it just fine. My friend has a Athlon II x4 830 with a 660 OC and it runs on ultra fine.

Tiger Direct actually had the 600T Mesh for like $114.97 minus an instant discount of $45 = $69.97 - $25 MIR + shipping + taxes. I tried to price match Memory Express but they couldn't price match and beat it but he offered me the 600T Silver as an alternative for the price of $69.97 without the price beat(which would've came to $44.97, if they approved of the price beat lol)

This was 2 weeks ago since Memory Express took their time in declining my price match.

tats not a bad case!

CRS 12-19-2013 09:44 AM

I would hope so. Otherwise it would be me posting a shitty deal and advising others to buy it.

"HEY GUYS, LOOK, OVERPAY FOR THIS PRODUCT AND YOU'LL FEEL AWESOME!"

i dont have exp with too many cases, but the fractal r4 i got last year feels cheap
1. legs on bottom are simple glued / sticky taped on. they fall off sometimes
2. the front of the case isnt securely attached to the main chasis. so it can come off when moving

Recon604 12-19-2013 10:47 AM

so hard to find good cases now. I dont know why ncix doesnt carry lian li cases anymore.

Im still wanting the 650D or the 750D

LuHua 12-20-2013 03:30 AM

Not a fan of Fractal? Build quality and thought put into the designs are good imo. The R4's silent enough that I have no problems sleeping with the pc running in the same room.

Edit: oops, just saw the post right above. No problems with my R4 so far, fingers crossed. Otherwise had my eyes on the 800D for a good while...

Recommend me a fast, good, reputable mSATA drive at 256gb

Thanks in advance!

^^ Either the Intel or a Samsung mSata. Most ultrabooks use Samsung as their SSD

Anyone here own a Filco or Ducky Brown switch? Looking to get one for the office. Brown switch!

SkinnyPupp 12-23-2013 05:33 PM

I was looking at Ducky keyboards last week, but I wanted something compact and I prefer blue switches. I went with a Razer Blackwidow Tournament.

I love blue switches, but I would have preferred to be able to get a keyboard that doesn't require software - especially software that requires a login.

I'll be writing about this on HCW

3klipze 12-23-2013 05:59 PM

Cool. Looking forward to that.

I played with a Blackwidow 2013 edition for a few weeks and didn't like it very much. Can't really describe it, but the keys feel really mushy.

I tried my colleague's Max Nighthawk X8 and fell in love.

SkinnyPupp 12-23-2013 06:36 PM

It's tough to say, since the 'feel' of keys is mostly subjective. But I can comment on some things like form factor, ease of use, etc.
