I recently built this computer (although i7 is on the way/using a G3220 meanwhile):
Zalman T2
i7-4770K
Gigabyte GA-B85M-D3H
MSI 660TI Power Edition
4GB Samsung DDR3 RAM
ADATA 128GB SSD
Rosewill 750W PSU
Costed me a little over 600 (Intel Retail Edge discount on CPU, GPU/RAM/PSU were bought used)
You could use that as a base build? As for your question, if you are set on getting an AMD, I would recommend you get a cheaper 970 board over the 990FX such as http://products.ncix.com/detail/asro...72135-1223.htm. Unless you plan on upgrading the CPU in the future with a newer AM3+ (in which you may run into problems with compatibility) or need SLI/CrossFire then the 970 will do you just fine at a fraction of the price. Although if your budget permits, I would go Intel with an i5-4570.
* Slight edit, please take a look again, gYU.

I tried to price match Memory Express but they couldn't price match and beat it but he offered me the 600T Silver as an alternative for the price of $69.97 without the price beat(which would've came to $44.97, if they approved of the price beat lol)
This was 2 weeks ago since Memory Express took their time in declining my price match.

Not a fan of Fractal? Build quality and thought put into the designs are good imo. The R4's silent enough that I have no problems sleeping with the pc running in the same room.
Edit: oops, just saw the post right above. No problems with my R4 so far, fingers crossed. Otherwise had my eyes on the 800D for a good while...

^^ Either the Intel or a Samsung mSata. Most ultrabooks use Samsung as their SSD
Anyone here own a Filco or Ducky Brown switch? Looking to get one for the office. Brown switch!

I was looking at Ducky keyboards last week, but I wanted something compact and I prefer blue switches. I went with a Razer Blackwidow Tournament.
I love blue switches, but I would have preferred to be able to get a keyboard that doesn't require software - especially software that requires a login.
I'll be writing about this on HCW

Cool. Looking forward to that.
I played with a Blackwidow 2013 edition for a few weeks and didn't like it very much. Can't really describe it, but the keys feel really mushy.
I tried my colleague's Max Nighthawk X8 and fell in love.

It's tough to say, since the 'feel' of keys is mostly subjective. But I can comment on some things like form factor, ease of use, etc.
