Go for it. That drive at that price is a major bargain. The OCZ horror stories was only true back in its earlier days. There was some QC and firmware issues with the earlier Vertex 3, but by now, the product is fully mature, and all the early bugs and issues have been ironed out.

OCZ filed chapter 7 so if you buy one there's likely no warranty until Toshiba finalizes the buyout

The future of warranty on ocz is uncertain as nobody knows if Toshiba will honour the warranty or not as they only purchased their assets. Currently all ocz warranty is honoured during the acquisition process but nobody knows about after.

Unrelated... but how are OCZ power supplies? I bought one 3~years ago, and I'm still using the same one.. 600watts no problems.

In general, people and especially salesman... bash on OCZ power supplies.

The MIR's from OCZ weren't even that good. They were american express gift cards

It was a pain checking the balance of them after using them once or find a place that took them.

I have no idea whether I'm the exception or the rule, but 2 of my machines have been running flawlessly with OCZ PSU for well over 3 years.

hey guys need some suggestion on my first pc build, been doing some research and this what i've came up with:

processor - Intel i3-4340
motherboard - Gigabyte GA-H87N-WIFI
memory - Kingston HyperX Blu Black Series 8GB 2X4GB
HDD - Seagate Barracuda 1TB
SSD - ADATA SX900 2.5" 128GB (for booting windows)
optical drive - Samsung SH-224DB
video card - Asus HD7750 V2 Radeon HD 7750 1GB PCI-E (i'm torn with this category, i have NO clue what to get, theres just too many to choose from)
case - Zalman Z12PLUS
power supply - eVGA SuperNOVA NEX650G 650W

im not a gamer so not sure if this is overkill or not, but would love for it to feel relevant say after 5 years, really only need it to run a lot of programs at once and able to handle 1080P like nothing

regular users won't find any difference on PSU unless you run several video cards and you need that 0.1ghz overclock to show off on the benchmark ranking.

I would rather get a cheaper ram and lower wattage PSU, then buy a i5 CPU.
The ADATA SSD is bit old, and I would definitely get a Nvidia instead.

lol there aren't too many configurations that will let you 'feel relevant' in a 5 year span, because technology just keeps changing at such a rapid pace.

I agree with asian XL, that maybe you should opt for an i5.

If you are not gaming maybe spip the video card. Also there is someone selling a comp with a I7 CPU for $450 in the buy and sell section. Might want to look at that.

If you going with that video card.. why not just get the AMD APU A10? comes with a built-in HD 8670D.. save some money and get a larger SSD or something or larger and cheaper ram? If your going to be gaming and if used for basic word processing/web surfing.. You could get away with 5 years...

Not that the Samsung 840 is a bad drive, but out of the 3 you've listed, it would be the last one on my list.

lol...I throw away my crucial M4 and OCZ vector, then got myself a 240gb 840 pro, even though I know that I won't feel a difference. It's proud to own the fastest ssd at this moment.
