As a reference, the excellent 240GB Segate 600 SSD was on sale at NCIX for $129 just recently. |
|
Just bought a Z87-Pro, GTX 780 Ti, 2400 ram x 32 GB and i7 4770 :D Big upgrade this month! |
Does anyone have a longer crossfire bridge? I would like to find one as soon as possible locally rather than ordering -- the motherboard is an Asus Crosshair IV Formula if it matters Already checked: A-power, NCIX, MemoryExpress, Crystal Mall Willing to pay $10-$20 if anyone has one! re-edit: Thought NCIX carried it but one guy didn't even know what it was, other dude was helpful but said they didn't carry it :okay: |

^ well hopefully it's better than this Mantle shit... for me the tests I ran in Mantle and Directx, I didn't see any performance increase in Battlefield 4.... I guess that's because Mantle is targeted to for midrange and lower level PC's, and doesn't give much if any of a performance boost on higher end setups, well from my limited understanding anyway.... Slightly off topic but it got me thinking you guys think these new consoles not being able to run anything yet at full 1920x1080p @ 60fps, is that because the consoles aren't powerful enough, or just the developers are too lazy or not good enough to properly optimize the games to run at those specs.... specs which were all but promised to us for this new console gen.... I mean I still got Gran Turismo 6 running on PS3 at better resolution and framerates (1080p @ 40-60fps) than most of these new "next gen" games out on PS4 and Xbox1 right now... for example Assassins Creed 4 (AFTER a PATCH) went from 720p to still only 900p and only at 30fps |
Mantle isn't finalized yet...and BF4 and Thief aren't built with Mantle from the ground up re: new consoles, I think it's still a matter of getting familiar with the system...but i think for xbox one they really underestimated the specs so I'm think at best you'll see 1080p@30fps racing games like GT6 aren't as hardware taxing as many other type of games so it's not fair to make a comparsion to say an open world game. |
So I'm using a Asus R9 270X, which has been flawless until now. For the past few months, the screen has turned off/standby after 5 minutes of inactivity without fail. Today, I noticed that the screen doesn't completely turn off, instead, it randomly flashes the active screens (I'm using dual monitor). When I move my cursor, it works normally. Anybody experience anything like this? edit: updated the driver might have fixed it... we will see :suspicious: |

I need your guy's help! My build: i7 3770k Zalman Z9 Plus ATX Mid Tower XFX Radeon HD 7870 Core Ed. ASRock Z77 Extreme3 Corsair CX Series CX750 SAMSUNG 840 Series 120gb SSD Kingston HyperX Blu Black Series 8GB 2X4GB Running dual monitors That is my build. When I play games such as CS:GO, D3, SC2 sometimes everything will be fine. However, I have already had a LOT of occasions where if I alt tabbed out and clicked to go back in, my screen will be frozen, my mouse and keyboard would not do anything, but the computer sounds like it is running normally. I can't do anything when that happens and I am forced to hard reset. When it happens, it seems as though there is still power running through the computer as all of my fans are still running. However, if I leave this frozen screen long enough, EVERYTHING will be shut down completely. Sometimes it will happen when I am in the game and am loading but I've also had this occur when I am watching a video and browsing the internet as well. I cannot diagnose what is happening and I hope someone here can help! I really hope that it is not a hardware problem. I have had suggestions that my power supply isn't enough, but I am pretty sure that it should be sufficient? Hopefully someone here can help me out. It is getting very annoying when it happens. |
^^ When in doubt, re-install Windoze. :troll: |
^Already done that. When I first installed Window's I couldn't even get past the load screen before it all started to freeze... |

I had the very same problem and found it was a PSU issue. It shouldn't be a wattage problem either. There was something wrong with my connector that was powering the mobo and basically it would randomly short itself out and cause a random restart or failure to start. |
^How did you detect it, and how did you fix it? Do I have to contact corsair for a refund of some sort? I would assume I would need some sort of proof for warranty? |

I uninstalled the Intel Rapid Storage Technology software as well as Microsoft Security Essentials and it seems to have fixed the problem. Also I do not put my computer into hibernate anymore either(just complete shutdown or sleep, as hibernating is bad for the ssd) Also I would sometimes get the blue screen of death and that hasn't happened in at least 5 months as well. so try uninstalling Intel Rapid Storage Technology, and if you have Microsoft Security Essentials get rid of that too. I have almost the same specs as you too... i7 3770k Zalman Z9 Plus ATX Mid Tower (running integrated graphics) ASUS P8-Z77V-LK XFX 550w Power Supply SAMSUNG 840 Pro Series 120gb SSD Kingston HyperX Series 8GB 2X4GB Single Monitor Download and run the program WhoCrashed and it will generate a report for you. Here are my posts on the problem: http://www.revscene.net/forums/68812...ml#post8329920 |
Hey guys, so I got back into PC gaming, and here's my cobbled together PC: Spoiler! So ... I got a second card and my FPS increased, but nowhere near as high as I expected, and I'm assuming that's because my CPU is old as hell. What do you guys suggest for a overclock friendly motherboard that can support crossfire? My only requirements are Crossfire support + Around the $100 mark Right now I am considering the ASUS Z87M-PLUS + i5-4670K -- since the 4670K is unlocked I was just going to bump the multiplier up until I get 4.0 GhZ, but its micro-ATX form factor turns me off. Also, what do you guys think is a fair price to ask for an Asus Crosshair IV Formula + 1090T Processor? Don't do any heavy gaming aside from CS:S (which already gets a constant 300 FPS), CS:GO, and DayZ (Destroys my FPS) |
Your CPU isn't that old. Crossfire works better in some games than others. And sometimes it can add stuttering which makes games look even slower than a shitty single card. |

Crossfire did give me a nice boost in dayZ which is a horribly optimized game, but did nothing for all the other games I play (CS:GO/CS:S included) |
I think upgrading to an i5 would give you a nice performance boost, yeah. Especially with a fast video card setup, especially at 1080p. No need for i7 |
Upgraded my laptop drivers the other day and now my computer boots up in basic, then after one second the screen turns black for half a second and lights back in aero. Couldn't really find any answers or resources online about this problem. Anyone care to shed some light about what the problem could be? |
