asus or giga or msi or evga?

Check which one has the longest warranty -- if not, the Asus Direct CU II cooler is awesome, but takes up a lot of space. I have a gigabyte branded video card now, but if I had the choice I would've picked either brand over gigabyte. I have had so many gigabyte parts fail on me (video cards, motherboards) -- so I'm not a big fan of gigabyte.

As a temporary fix I'm using the reset button as the power button(swapped connectors on the mobo)
Anyone know how I can fix this? I traced the cabling from the power button to the mobo and there aren't any issues, so I believe its just a broken power button.

Any DIYs on swapping out a power button.

Here is the case, Zalman Z9 Plus
http://www.ncix.com/detail/zalman-z9...57910-1016.htm

Same case, same problem. I even re-soldered the connections but every time I remove the front panel, the connection breaks. My solution is the same as yours, reset button = power.

If the games you're running is fine with your current GTX 660, then I wouldn't recommend an upgrade.

You make take a look at the comparisons here - MSI GeForce GTX 770 Gaming review - DX11: Futuremark 3DMark 11 & 2013

Hey man, could've probably been happy with just your 660 if you didn't have upgraditis!

3klipze 06-03-2014 07:06 PM

The price for Crucial MX100 makes it so tempting. I wonder how competitors will react to this, especially Samsung.

FX 4100 4core VS FX 8320 8core

worth upgrading?
AMD FX-4100 vs FX-8320

review seems to say insignificant difference. I have no idea what I'm looking at.

the 8320 is on sale now for about $130

I'm looking to build a new mid level gaming pc this weekend, since gaming on a mbp isn't ideal. I haven't built one since an i5-750 build many years ago.

I'm probably going to go with an i5-4670 build this time with a budget of $1100 + tax. should I mimic the builds a few posts above with cheaper video card + case or should I try to stretch my budget up a bit.

and what was the website where you could compare prices from various online retailers.

thanks.

This came out to be less than $1000. Of course I suggest adding a SSD (I got my own). Pretty decent build.

Hey guys, I am building a new PC and I am pretty new at this.. So far the specs I have planned so far are,

CPU: Intel Core i5 4670K Unlocked Quad Core 3.4GHZ Processor LGA1150 Haswell 6MB($256.99)
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z87X-D3H ATX LGA1150 Z87 DDR3 3PCI-E16 3PCI-E1 HDMI CrossFireX/SLI SATA3 USB3.0 Motherboard ($134.99)
RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws X F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL 8GB 2X4GB DDR3-1600 CL9-9-9-24 Memory($96.98)
Case: Fractal Design Define R4 ATX Tower Case Black Pearl 2X5.25 8X3.5INT No PSU Front 2XUSB3.0 Audio ($79.99)
Storage1: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB SATA 6GB/S 7200RPM 64MB Cache 3.5IN Hard Drive OEM ($64.99)
Video Card: ASUS GeForce GTX 760 DirectCU II OC 1075MHZ 2GB 6.0GHZ GDDR5 2xDVI HDMI DisplayPort PCI-E Video Card ($282.74)
SSD: Samsung 840 Evo Series MZ-7TE120BW 120GB 2.5in SATA III Internal SSD Single Unit Version ($99.99)
Monitor: ASUS VS247H-P 23.6IN Widescreen LED LCD Monitor 1920x1080 2ms 50M:1 300CD/M2 HDMI VGA ($169.99)
WI-FI Card: ASUS PCE-N15 300Mbps 802.11B/G/N Wireless PCI-E Network Adapter ($27.99)

I am unsure about how many watts/what kind of power supply I should get for this build. All parts are priced from NCIX and total comes to over 1300. Any tips/advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
