bought some bitfenix 200mm fans to fit my case (1 of mine died, 1 is about to go)
the bitfenix fans have 3 positions to screw into a case and none of them align perfectly! -_-
ah well 2 screws are good enough |

Pretty looking, feels durable, but not as heavy as other mechanical keyboard. And best of all, its easy to clean
I heard good things from the CoolerMaster Storm and Steelseries if you're looking to spend less than $100.
Personally I would just stay away from Razer stuff.
Ncix have all the mx cherry key switches sample. Go and try out what switches you like first.

The key itself with make less noise than say a blue, but the keyboard itself when you press down is still quite loud. The noise you dont get with a red is the click of a key. If that made any sense lol.

Got the Cooler Master Quickfire Rapid-I.
White LEDs and your choice of blue, brown, or red switches.
Blues = the louder quicky ones similar to typewriters
Brown = in between blues and reds
Red = soft linear ones with less actuation force

I have to RMA it now. | Give you a tip so you don't pay return shipping..
1) File an Express RMA ticket, but cancel the ticket after (RMA requests still goes through despite ticket closing)
2) File an Express RMA ticket the day after, but don't cancel it (so now you have two RMAs)
3) You'll get two shipping notifications
4) When you receive the two packages, call Corsair and say that you didn't know that cancelling the ticket still meant the RMA request went through
5) Corsair will give you free shipping label with UPS

I'd buy ANY other brand other than Corsair. Their stuff was good in the early 2000's but that's about it. You can buy higher quality goods at the night market.

Depends on what you're buying from Corsair. Their cases, power supplies, and fans are fairly top notch, and their support from experience was good as well.

Corsair power supplies are rebrands, but I'm surprised to hear you say that about their cases and fans.

I've got an old Lenovo workstation that I'm interested in re-purposing as steam machine. It'll be purely for streaming (mostly indies at that), so no real processing power needed. E8400/3GB Ram/old old Intel GMA 3100...host computer is a capable i7 Ivy/SLI midrange.
1. not sure if I should load SteamOS (doesn't meet the 4GB ram requirements) or some form of custom lite windows OS
2. preferably N300 2.4GHz dongle on the steam machine, and 5GHz N on host computer....I could go out of my way and hardwire the Steam Machine to my router but my host will still be wireless...dunno if this will make any difference?
3. no HDMI/DVI/optical connection on Steam Machine....don't really wanna spend any money.. Will a simple VGA to HDMI cable work via iGPU? Any possibility of surround audio? Spending another $100 to get video card/sound card is the last resort...heck I'd probably wouldn't bother with this if it comes down to that and just game on my rig as is.

Anyone see any good deals on 120, 144hz+ monitors? I have absolutely no idea what to pick.

your thoughts? | If you're set on AMD, get a FX-8320/8350 and just overclock it. The FX-9590 is a factory overclocked version of those chips. Not to mention that certain older/lower-end boards won't support the FX-9590.
But if your main usage is gaming, you're better off getting an i5-4460 + compatible B85 or H87 motherboard.
As for your video card, if you're in no rush to upgrade, wait a couple of months as AMD's going to be releasing their new cards then, so you can expect price drops for current Radeon R9 cards.

Thanks razor. Wanna spend under $300 for now. How about the fx8370? I realized my board won't put out more than 14th so the FX 9590 is out of the picture
EDIT: got the FX 8370. christ this thing runs hot. even the oem cooler maxed out and still went over 67deg. like a damn hair drier!
i found out by adding a 2nd low speed fan to my water cooler, it could actually keep it under 60 Deg and runs silent.

I have absolutely no idea what to pick. | Your typical monitor can only see 60hz meaning 60fps even if you game runs 100+, you monitor can only produce 60. For me I can see the difference from 60 to 120 (which is what I set everything to) and the Asus one and benq are really similar. BENQ monitors are really bright

anyone using their HTPC for 3D blu-ray?
I just so happened to never use my internal BD drive in my main rig, so thinking of swapping that out.For GPU I've narrowed it down to the GT 730 2GB GDDR5 Low Profile http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16814487052 |

i watch 3d blus from my htpc
im using a radeon 6950 though
was wanting to replace it with one of those low profile/itx gpus since the 6950 takes up all the space in my tight htpc case
so i was looking at the 750 ti (it was cheaper before boxing day) then i was thinking the gtx 760 which was cheaper christmas day than today... -_- and then i was thinking, i may as well get the gtx 970 and make it a real upgrade!
reason kicked in though and told me 'no' |

If you do upgrade and wanna sell that 6950 let me know, would be a nice upgrade from my 7750 but I can't justify buying a brand new one for the slight increase I'll see.
