I like that phanteks case! will have to run it by the boss though...

i opted for more memory because i'm going to be playing with large files (over 1 gig), and im worried 16gb of ram won't be enough :/ (according to some sites ive been browsing)

same reason i chose the cpu as it has 6 cores, suposedly 5-8 cores is the sweet spot for PS/LR etc

but i dont really know :/

tried ordering this case from taobao

https://img.alicdn.com/bao/uploaded/...430x430q90.jpg

but have had nothing but a big PITA trying to get the transaction to go through -_-

it's 4mm thick anodized aluminum btw with 5mm tempered glass sides in a matx form factor

i'm not going to go through the trouble of having it shipped to family in china/hk to reroute it to me here as i wont see it for months... sigh

:okay:

Samsung 850 EVO Series Solid State Drive, 250GB at Memory Express

it was 89.99 for 250gb on black friday. wouldn't pay for over 100 for this drive.

If I were to connect my router to my other router (router#2) - which I am going to program into a wireless access point, Will I be able to connect my computer to router#2 as a source of internet? or will Router#2 become strictly an access point?

Router #2, by definition as an AP, will act as a connection to your wired network, which has access to the internet via Router #1 and your modem.

You should have no problems. Access point modes (just turning off DHCP for the most part) are made to allow you to expand your network. Just make sure you set the Wifi on your router and AP to different channels. You can set it them to the same name/password, or create a new one entirely. Up to you.

naw, my orders wouldnt go through and when i tried again, the free shipping option disappeared and there was only a 1,200 yuan shipping option available which is twice the price of the case itself

so oh well, i want my case asap, so ill have to look elsewhere

Been eyeing both the SanDisk Ultra II and Samsung 850 EVO at the 240GB / 250GB capacity for a new purchase. Normally, the SanDisk is slightly cheaper by ~$12, but when they are on sale, the price difference pretty much disappears.

Is there any significant difference between the two? Performance-wise, reviews pit them pretty much on par with each other, with SanDisk being slightly faster in certain things, and Samsung being head in other categories.

Personally, I am leaning a bit towards the SanDisk since I've been using a Samsung 840 at work for a while (2+ years?) now, and I keep thinking / imagining that the performance drop over time is noticeable.

I'd also be open to other suggestions as well, but value for performance (ie. bang for the buck) is more important than outright performance for me here.

^^^ I bought the 500gb 850evo for $110 CAD after exchange conversion
newegg.com was giving a free game (assassins creed) with purchase + ebates & paypal discount

so i'd keep my eye out from shops in the states too, even with the exchange you can find deals

Figure I'll try asking here.

Just bought a msi r9 390 and i've been having shit load of issues with the card already.. Maybe its just me or when I play CS GO, I get micro stuttering and repeated actions happen. I've made sure all my drivers are updated. Any help here?

Thanks!

A week late, but does this happen in just CS:GO?

If not, exchange it.

Maybe a driver issue with Source games.

twitchyzero 12-19-2015 01:33 AM

StylinRed 12-23-2015 09:36 AM

so i bought a giant Noctua heatsink for my mATX build (D15) and the radiator sits about 0.5mm from my GPU and the fans and it's clips sit right up against the GPUs

-_- I put some electrical tape between them, was thinking about some thin cardboard, but what do you guys think? am I just worried over nothing?

banana200 12-24-2015 03:47 PM

I am looking to pick up a used graphics card off craigslist. I understand there are certain risks involved, as you can't really test the graphics card on the spot.

Is there anything I can look out for during the transaction to minimize my risk of buying a bad card?

In addition, is there any tests I can run after I installed my graphics card to tell me the "health" of my graphics card?

Thanks
