There used to be a really popular place in Kelowna, but it closed down due to shitty management practices. If you do open one, for the love of everything keep the computers updated. What made my friends and I stop going was when the place switched to 24/7 and never updated anything, so we spent half our time trying to find games that we liked that didn't have hours worth of pending updates.

What's the best way to find the bottleneck for a particular game? The GPU I accidentally won on eBay came in today and while it gave me a pretty big performance bump for the more typical games I've tested it with, for GW2 it hasn't had as big of an impact as I would like.

yep not worth your time...it's all about convenience now. Those serious enough to game on PC will do it at home...team chat on vent/teamspeak/skype was pretty much the nail in the coffin for lan cafes

I use the MSI afterburner and it shows the GPU usages.
If the game running like crap and the GPU usage is low, then maybe your CPU is bottlenecking.

Some game are just more CPU intensive.
Sometime the game are badly optimized

You will never get even remotely close to turning a profit by opening one in Vancouver, even if you get it in a prime location at UBC or SFU.

If you wanna throw away cash, I'll send you my PayPal.

Most GPU manufactures have their own monitoring/overclocking software, which allows you to gauge the GPU performance. I usually just open the performance tab of the task manager for CPU and RAM monitoring and use the GPU monitoring software. You can now see which one, CPU, RAM or GPU is stuck at 100%. As a note though, few games/applications do not take advantage of multi-CPU support.

The Gigabyte software seems to be pretty crappy so it doesn't really show me anything, but in Task Manager I can see my CPU is sitting in the 80% range on all cores, with dips up to the 90's, so I'm guessing that's my bottleneck.

Currently I have an Athlon 640 [3.0 stock] bumped to 3.6, which from my understanding is the limit for it. I've got a Phenom 955 [3.2 stock] that I can toss in for free, from my understanding it can handle more overclocking than the 640? Not a huge difference but when it's free I may as well?

[edit] while I'm asking I'm currently using a Gigabyte 760G mobo, but I've got an MSI MS-7599 that the 955 is currently plugged into. Worth the work of swapping both into my case or just the CPU?

Instead of charging by the hour charge by the month. Get some VR setups and some cockpit setups for racing games, things that people will not have at home.

I got my Intel 535 series SSD yesterday and used Intels software to transfer the contents of the original (conventional) drive in my Toshiba Z50 to it. It appeared to work, except now the computer BSODs within a minute of booting up. Does this sound like an issue with the SSD, or just a problem with the file cloning process?

usually i have this issue cloning from mechanical to solid state. Which part of the loading process does it BSOD?

Does it BSOD in safe mode?

Lately i've been using acronis to clone the drives and works pretty well. Not sure what intel software uses

It BSODs after windows is up and running, or at the log in screen if I leave it, and in safe mode as well. It's pretty consistent on the amount of time before it happens. The Intel software seemed to be Acronis based, I've tried using the built in Intel system recovery but it BSODs as well.

lan cafes are the thing of the past.

it was popular because software wasn't made back in the days for communication.

Also, it is MUCH MUCH easier to get gaming computers compared to back in the days. prices have dropped tremendously for simple computer parts

Moving to a new place soon and im trying to decide cable n internet or just internet. Ive been looking at android pc's and probably would not cable anymore. My only concern would be for live ppv events available through providers. Im sure that would not be possible going with the just android pc option. Nothing beats live HD ppv events for parties.

If you're willing to pay a bit more you can get something like this:

http://www.ncix.com/detail/intel-nuc...15563-1314.htm

It's also upgradable so if you need more RAM or HDD you can install. It's a full license of Win10 Home.

Don't think you'll be able to get live PPV without a cable sub. I mean there are sites where you can pay for an HD stream and I'm going to assume that's the closest you'll get.

Are you able to get the bsod code before it restarts?
long shot but try removing the driver for the drive then clone.

I was able to film it and grab the code, but googling it didn't turn up much.

Good call about the driver though, it's a Toshiba laptop with HDD vibration detection and a few other preloaded things, stupid me didn't think to remove those first.

Sometimes if you google the *.sys file that causes the BSOD that'll lead to what the issue is.
