image quality not motion 120hz+ will be noticeably better for motion but you can still be competitive at cs on a 60Hz monitor with the right settings capping fps/vsync off, don't remember exact settings as I haven't played it in a year or so https://www.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffen...gh_for_a_60hz/ I'm one of those people who thinks 24/30p is more cinematic :troll:...I don't like the soap-drama effect. Probably wont buy an LCD TV again for that reason and will hang onto my plasma :troll::troll: |
you dont see yourself contradicting yourself here? you said you value image quality but state 60hz is fine compared to 120hz which is a big no no. There is a difference in image quality, not just motion. I think you have no clue what the hell you are saying Quote:

looking to upgrade to either the ASUS PG279Q http://www.ncix.com/detail/asus-pg27...-2b-119675.htm or ASUS PG278Q http://www.ncix.com/detail/asus-pg27...-e5-100910.htm which one would you guys pick? I like that the 278Q is 1MS but it dosent have HDMI. while the 279Q is 165hz vs 144hz , its 4ms vs 1ms .. but does have the hdmi option. looking to use for gaming. |
image quality pertains to the image and the image alone when assessed frame-by-frame. Colour, viewing angles, contrast, resolution. motion is a totally different beast in which i've already agreed with you. we're just not on the same page in terms of semantics..that's all |

I switched from an IPS 60hz monitor to a TN 144hz monitor, and the true color difference is unreal. :rukidding: I've put-up with it for a while now until I can get my hands on an IPS 120hz+ monitor. Honestly, the color positive difference of an IPS is an acceptable trade off for the response time and refresh rate. |
Does monitor refresh rate affect input lag like shots not registering? |
Looking to build a new PC, and reusing some old parts. Trying to decide between mATX and ITX. What's everyone opinion on a itx semi-gaming PC? Am i sacrificing anything by going ITX vs mATX? I honestly don't feel like I need any of the PCI slot (What do people use PCI slot for anyway?) Spec: CPU: i7-6700K MOBO: Z170M-PLUS(matx) or MSI Z170I Gaming Pro AC. Ram: 2x8GB HD: Samsung 850 EVO 500GB Vid: EVGA GTX 960 Case: Corsair AIR 240(mATX) or EVGA Hadron (itx) no plan to do SLI/Crossfire |

Not looking to the upgrade vid card, hence keeping the same card. essentially I am just getting new cpu, mobo, ram and case. |

then sell the 1070 for the 1080 TI when it comes out :nyan: |
^there's not going to be a 1080Ti most likely...the new Titan X ultimately takes that cake because it's already a cut down chip Quote:

Anyone using them (i.e. Samsung 950 Pro) and got any opinion of them on real world use? On paper and benchmark they are significantly faster, (500MB/s vs 2000MB/s+) Just wondering does it actually feel much faster and snappier in real world usage? (Like when you are upgrading from a HDD to SSD) There are only 2 Z170i mobo I can find - Asus and MSI. Asus Z170i uses U.2, where MSI use M.2. (tho only 65mm fit properly) Some people say U.2 is more the future for desktop SSD, but U.2 ssd is almost non existent beside intel's super expensive 750 at the moment. I guess I will stay with cheaper SATA SSD for now, but I want the mobo to be future proof when the new SSD become more common. |

Some M.2 nowadays are faster than a regular SATA3 SSD by trading write for more read speeds. IMO, write is equally important. Of course, M.2 also uses PCIe lanes/bandwidth. FYI, after 2000 read and 2000 write, in a consumer environment, you don't feel more of the speed difference as when compared to the HDD to SSD speed jump change. I've used an Intel 5000 read and 3000 write PCIe SSD at work, and it felt like I didn't gain a huge speed bump from a 2000/2000. Although, as soon as I use it in a database environment with many thousands transactions per second, the speed boost is fantastic. |

does it feel much faster than a regular SSD during everyday use? (i.e. browsing, gaming, photoshops, etc) |
i think where the pcie will be faster is when your doing a lot of reads and write at a given time like rendering. other than that for everyday use, its a waste of money. For work, i've seen some improvements from using a pcie m2 over regular 2.5ssd when rendering for everyday use, just stick with the regular m2 drives or even the 2.5 ssd |

ended up getting this. worked out to 680 with tax and discounts. pretty sweet deal considering the 27" asus one I was gonna get was 1030+ tax deal ends tmr |

Most TN 27" 120Hz+ monitors are around that price point... |

figured i save myself $2-400 and use that to buy a 1080 card instead :nyan: |
The Dell will be the cheapest if you are looking for a 27" 1440p 144HZ 1ms monitor with G-SYNC. You won't find an IPS monitor with faster refresh rate than 4-5ms. And even then, the PG279Q costs well over $1000. |
finally received the following products i5 6500 cpu Asus H170 PRO 16gb ddr4 ram Nxzt S340 white case with side panel Samsung 850 EVO PRO 500gb SSD 550w G2 EVGA power supply ( fucking expensive PSU for 550watts lmao ) going to pair all this tonight with my GTX 970. Need to buy a windows 10 cdkey from kinguin tonight and make my USB bootable to install it :P edit: ill post some pics when done :) |
Just did my built yesterday..(last time I built one was 7years ago) i7-6700k Noctura NH-C14s Asus z170i pro gaming itx 16GB ram Samsung 850 Evo 500GB Fractal Define Nano S EVGA GTX 960 (old) Some question maybe someone can help answer. 1) Case (define nano s) has 2 front USB port coming from 1 header on the mobo. For some reason, 1 of them is not working. The one on the right works fine, but the one on the left when I plug it in nothing happens. Any idea why? 2) I installed windows 10. The installation was quick and smooth. (Btw, I tried using my old window 7 laptop key but it said invalid, it can still install w/o key tho) W10 seems to have downloaded all my video card, audio drivers etc. Do I still need to download any drivers for my motherboard like back in W7? Or everything automatic now? 3) Is that a way to make W10 feels faster and more "snappy"?? It is not "slow", but it doesn't feel snappy....like when I move windows around, it tries to "slowly smooth out" the transitions...My old PC with W7 actually feels faster when browsing... |
