The EVGA ones are often rebrands of higher end platforms and they are your best bet for a higher end bang for your buck PSU.

Look for any of the EVGA G2 or P2s. Gold and Platinum efficiency doesn't really matter because the difference is so minimal.

You won't need more than a 550W if you're running a single card.

Cwift 10-05-2016 05:26 PM

Do you think it's worth it to save 30 dollars to get the EVGA supernova G2 550W rather than the P2 650W?

Yes and if you later buy a new video card it need even less power.

i bought asus strix 970 in july for $250

paying anything more if a rip off , the quality and power of the 970 for 250 (which is basically on par for dx 11 games RX 480)

is worth it!!!

Razor Ramon HG 10-08-2016 08:46 PM

GTX 970 should be worth 200-250 max.

Picked up a BNIB RX 470 8GB for $300 last week. Pleased with it.

planning to make a $600-700 gaming comp for my girl for christmas, might pick up a GTX 970 if it lowers. Whats the best sub $150 card out there rn?

Here's a hard drive storage question for you guys. How many of you guys use a SSD for storage files, like pictures/videos? I know the price compared to regular HDD, there is a $$$ gap, but just curious what you guys use for storage.

bobola 10-10-2016 01:10 AM

One SSD for OS and on other SSD, I'll put games and programs that I always use.
Dont really have much important files so picture and video will just be on a regular HDD.

ForbiddenX 10-10-2016 07:16 AM

That's my setup as well. OS and apps go inside of my SSD and everything else goes into HDDs. Sometimes I install games on my SSD if I want them to load faster, but most of the time I don't mind the load times off my HDD.

On the topic of SSDs, anybody have any m.2 SSD recommendations?

turb0triX 10-10-2016 12:53 PM

Anyone know of any good backlit keyboards with dedicated multimedia buttons (volume control, pause/play etc)? Most of the backlit keyboards I see don't have dedicated multimedia buttons..

Just bought this laptop and Asus support says it has a M.2 slot.

So I am looking at this drive. https://www.amazon.ca/Crucial-MX300-...CIAL+MX300+m.2

Not the fastest out there but is pretty solid from what I have SSd from reviews. It's the cheapest 500 GB M.2 SSD I have seen. Uses 3D nand.

I have dedicated multimedia buttons on my Logitech G510s.

I'd say the lowest price you can find for 970s are $250 currently.

At $150 I'd go for a GTX 780 (what I went for/paid). On games it doesn't fall behind the 970 by a lot (unless you considering VR gaming). Messaged a few sellers on Craigslist for 780 and 3 of them sold for around $150 in around 1-2 weeks.

Just search up benchmarks and watch the market to get an idea of which GPU u want and how much they go for.
