2 years later and I still have the same problem. My computer constantly shuts down instantly then restarts again when I'm playing games especially in the hotter days. I've already added a CPU heatsink and replaced the GPU and SSD. I went to ncix for service and they told me it was the SSD. I replaced it and it still does the same thing lol. Temperatures are pretty low as well. Any advice before taking this piece of shit back to ncix?

I actually got a couple of sticks of ram that I haven't had a chance to it in. I'll see if that fixes it. Would faulty ram cause a restart? Haha he said he put his harddrive in and the restarts didn't happen. But like I said the restarts happen more often in the summer. Some kind of heat issue then? The cpu and gpu temps are quite low though.

If the CPU and GPU aren't hot then I'd lean towards the RAM. What are you using to check the temperatures? Speedfan shows me the CPU temps, GPU temp and HDD/SSD temps so unless the SSD itself is defective you should be able to see if it's getting too hot or not.

I think I used CPUZ? I forget. I'm not in Canada right now. It's definitely not the SSD as this happens with two different SSDs and an HDD. Ill definitely replaced that RAM when I get back. Thanks for the advice. I hope this finally ends my pain. You don't know how many times my computer would restart when I'm in a 1v1 clutch

I had a similar problem only when gaming and it turned out to be the PSU

Try swapping that out and see if that helps

since cpu and gpu temps are in check, check psu. you can also turn off autorestart or something like that on your motherboard to see if your psu is cutting power as well.
if the ssd or hd causes problems, your computer will freeze up
memory usually will give you a bsod

I would run a test on memtest86 before you replace the RAM.

What GPU and and CPU are you using, as well as the make and wattage of the PSU?

gtx960 and an i7 2600k. Psu I'm not too sure on the specifics. Antec trupower 750w or something. I can't check for another two weeks since I'm out of town. I ran memtest before and it passed it but I have new ram anyways so that won't be a problem to replace. I don't think I've seen any autorestart setting in the mobo. It's an asus mobo and again not too sure on the specific model lol. Sorry for the lack of info when asking for help. Just trying to sort this out so I don't come home to this annoyance.

Yeah, sounds like your system should be fine. I wouldn't have put up with 2 years of restarts. lol. Don't sweat the lack of info.

Here's how to turn off auto restarts on bosd:
https://www.howtogeek.com/howto/wind...omatic-reboot/

It should help diagnose the cause of them. Be sure to take a picture of the code it throws.

It's not a blue screen of death though. It completely shuts of all power and turns on again like I hit the restart button.

Turn it on anyways, and see if you get a blue screen.

I don't know if there's a temperature monitoring program out there, but I'd look for one with logging.

I would try to make the issue repeatable and do it in front of NCIX to see if they know what it might be. That is, if you went to them recently.

Yeah I'll give it a shot when I'm back. As for showing ncix this, their IT doesn't work that way. You drop off the rig and their guy works on it when they get the chance. Any other reliable place to service this computer?

I had this happen. It was my PSU that was on the fritz. The connections and everything was sound. It took me nearly 2 months to figure it out.

After everything everyone has said it's starting to look that way. I'm just sick of buying new components just for it to still restart. But I'm feeling good about it being the PSU. I would have loved for this annoyance to only last 2 months. Any reccomendations on a reliable PSU? 960gtx i7 2600k 16gb ram 1 SSD and 2 SSDs. No optical drives.

it would restart when running hard programs like games / apps , not just BSOD

but yea, run memtest and see if it restarts on its own when it runs

My PSU was 5 months old before I had that problem .

Ended up buying a new one cause I didn't want to wait for RMA and problem solved.

You'll be fine with a EVGA 750W

Haven't been in the system building game for a while, but I used to use strictly PC Power & Cooling's PSUs, and they never ever fail me even in a relative extreme build.

Not sure if it's still the case, but I regard PCP&C PSU as the absolute top of my list if I were to buy a PSU.

Most 80+ Gold PSUs should be fine. I usually use EVGA PSUs since majority of them are rebrands of high tier platforms such as FSP, Super Flower, and Seasonic. They are also quite good in the pricing department and have excellent customer service.

Not any more IMO. Not since OCZ bought them.
