"Best" by itself is probably not too useful a term to describe the drive. Are you looking for best performance? Best price-performance? Best price (per GB)? Best _______ under a certain price ceiling? Best ________ for a given capacity?

Razor Ramon HG 08-17-2017 11:55 AM

London Drugs currently has a $25 discount if you use Masterpass on purchases over $100.

You can add any credit card to Masterpass. I used my CIBC Visa.

Got a 250GB Samsung 850 Evo as a Hackintosh drive for $106. The discount is applied pre-tax as well.

True, it is expensive, unfortunately, there is no 256gb, all my 4K porn can be saved in the 4T NAS

replaced the 660ti with a 1070... should be good for another 4 years... if the computer doesn't blow up LOL.

threezero 08-18-2017 07:18 AM

finally put my system together. Last pc I build was more than 15 years ago, oh how the times have change. PC parts are so sexy nowadays.

Anyways can anyone recommend a program that can let me monitor my system stat on the desktop. like an overlay over my wallpaper.

Any good guide for noob to overclocking?

Ikkaku 08-18-2017 12:18 PM

You could probably install rainmeter and get the skins that show system stats. I haven't used it in a long time, so I'm not sure how updated it is, but you could look into it.

Bro. Anything is possible with enough voltage and cooling hahaha.

I'm running mine at 1.44v

85c load lol.

Dgaf. It's a tough CPU. Ran it stock at 70-100c (load) air cool for YEARS.

Ulic Qel-Droma 08-18-2017 10:17 PM

Oh

Would u guys get a lian li o-12 case for 150 dollars used?

New is like 500. I might buy it and just. Hold it... For my next rig? Haha

twitchyzero 08-18-2017 11:31 PM

nope

if and when you're building a new one, there will be more desirable cases

always tell myself a nice case can last multiple builds...problem is i dont build often and by the time I do the existing case looks dated

What if I just stuck the current rig inside it? Lol

Razor Ramon HG 08-19-2017 07:40 AM

Bought a Fractal Design Mini C TG.

Tempered glass makes all acrylic window cases look old AF.

The design can easily last a decade without looking dated.

Mr.Money 08-23-2017 04:54 PM

does look damn good the newly release tempered glass,i'm just glad i didnt cheap out on a Case,i youtube'd every single one i was interested in and those 50 dollar PC Cases were folding over like hell with a simple push. :heckno:

bought that budget 144hz display.....my god is overwatch smooth,my crosshair is always on target easy compared to 60hz were everything felt too fast...its almost like 144 slows things down and allows you to see fast movements smoothly.

Need a recommendation please. Im looking for a new laptop. I currently have an old lenovo e540 that I will be replacing. Im looking for something lighter and possibly smaller. I've been looking at 13 inch and 15 inch laptops. I will be primarily using it for internet browsing and watching videos. My current lenovo has a screen resolution that is less than an FHD. Will I be satisfied with an FHD for watching videos or should i spend the extra money for QHD? Must have an SSD as well. Doesn't have to have a large capacity as 128 will suffice.

I'm currently looking at dell xps, asus zenbooks and surfaces. Most of the laptops im looking at are around the $1200-1300 range. anyone have a cheaper alternative?

Criteria
-light
-nice screen FHD at the minimum. Prefer QHD If you guys think its worth the extra money
-SSD Min 128GB

twitchyzero 08-28-2017 11:44 PM

you're a day late...i just sold last year's xps 12 for $800 (under 3 lbs, 4k screen, 256gb ssd)

ebates is doing 15% cashback for dell right now...would def jump on that with an additional 3% back for dell's advantage rewards then triple stack it with code $100OFF$1300PC that should put it quite close to $1K (XPS 13 core i5 with 8GB)

If you're into mITX, this was pretty much the same build I use to run minus the RAM (I upgraded to a mATX to get a new Fractal Design case)

https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/XqxVNN

I can hook you up with a BNIB i7-7700K and the motherboard/video card for $880 if interested.

ASUS UX330.

i7, 16GB RAM, 512GB PCI-E SSD, FHD screen and a 10-hour battery life in a thin light package. Can find it for less than $1200. It's amazing value.

Have a free copy of Rocket League.

I think you need to do it on a computer with a GTX 1050 or 1060.

Reply back here if you redeemed it.

Slowly piecing together my Ryzen 1700 build.
Haven't build anything since 2011 and I'm really surprised how well the 2500K has hold me over.
Wifey's computer seems to be acting up so I'm just gonna give her mine and I'll get to build a new one :fullofwin:

So far I've got:

Ryzen 7 1700 $300 (eBay)
MSI B350 Tomahawk $125-$10MIR (NCIX)
Corsair RM550X USD$80-$20MIR (Newegg.com)

Looking to get the NZXT S340 Elite case (Tempered glass :drool) but it seems to be backordered at most places.
Also any DDR4 Ram recommendations? Any deals?
I put in an order for PNY 16GB 2400 DDR4 that's temporary out of stock. Not sure if it'll match up well with my build?
