FINALLY. Ordered one!

vega still 200% of regular price everywhere LUL

How fucking stupid is this?

Search for RX 580 and the #2 result is an RX 570. I accidentally ordered it but thankfully was able to cancel the order

Got the RX 580 (which looks identical) for $326 (but it doesn't show up when you sort by price)

Amazon is such a shitty site

Amazon has got me with stuff like that a couple times. Once with a monitor, and once with a book that changed from English to Korean when I picked soft cover (when it arrived it was actually Japanese to boot). Their search is dog shit.

Mr.Money 04-25-2018 08:41 PM

Daaaamn...isn't that a kickass deal for a 580 rx?

SkinnyPupp 04-25-2018 11:49 PM

Best price since it came out pretty much. It'll definitely go lower but I'm impatient LUL

Razor Ramon HG 04-26-2018 12:11 AM

Ameriprices?

twitchyzero 04-27-2018 11:45 AM

has anyone worked with Thunderbolt 2 before?

can a late-2014 imac 5k output to a monitor that requires MST, so using both Thunderbolt connections at the same time for video?

Thunderbolt 2 is physically the same connection as mini-DisplayPort?, much like Thunderbolt 3 and USB-C?

PogChamp 1 more day!

You should cancel that order and get the MSI if it's still available

Honestly though, the longer you wait, the cheaper they'll get. Demand has already dropped, since miners are switching to ASICs apparently. And once they are no longer profitable for mining at all, the market will be flooded (though picking up a used card that has been running at >100% capacity 24/7 for months and months might not be such a great idea unless it's REALLY cheap)

If I can get a second one for under $200 I'll grab it for Crossfire (even though I'm at 1080p, might as well go for full 144 FPS with full settings right? PogChamp )

Unless it can already do that with today's games? Not even sure how capable this card is, I just got the best one that I can afford

SaviorSelf_666 04-28-2018 09:54 PM

My main rig is set with a 1080ti, but I have my 'older' 7700K build that just needs a card for some light HTPC use. I'll assume Amazon will just cancel my order, as I don't think they can fulfill it.

Yeah if the cancel button is still there, you can cancel it

You definitely don't need a 580 for HTPC stuff.. a $50 card would be plenty

SaviorSelf_666 04-28-2018 10:26 PM

Some gaming will be involved, so I figure the 580 would be a solid choice at some smaller local multiplayer games even at 4k.

Any suggestions for a gaming computer around $1500?

Friend of mine is looking for a new computer and willing to spend around $1500 just for the case, I’ve been out of the loop for a while and wondering where to start at that price range?

Also with NCIX gone are there any other local places to select components and have them assemble it?

Up and running!

So umm what do I want to play? :considered:

Razor Ramon HG 04-30-2018 12:11 AM

I've barely played games on my PC lately. Nothing new has really caught my eye, maybe except for Far Cry 5.

But on the console side, I played Bloodborne to death. Then for the past week and a half I beat GOW3 Remastered and I'm finishing GOW now. Received Dark Souls 3 yesterday in the mail, and planning to start the Yakuza 0 after that.

That $800 eGPU I bought for my Macbook seems like such a waste of money at the moment. Only used for PUBG with my friends.

SkinnyPupp 04-30-2018 12:52 AM

There are some games that I put hours into, wishing I had a better video card to enjoy better graphics and smoother framerates.. but now it's like... well I'm pretty much done with the game LUL

I refunded Assassin's Creed because it ran like shit. I want it back, but it's not on sale anymore lol

Guess I'll fuck around in DOOM for a bit. I liked it but actually got kind of bored after a while

twitchyzero 04-30-2018 10:15 AM

I knew $300 for 16GB was fucking hogwash
a quarter or two of supply constraint from mass orders (NSA?) was believable but IIRC the prices have been going north for 18 months now

I think memory express and Canada computers will do it.

Anyone have experience buying used parts off of eBay?

Looking to buy a used, gold rated Seasonic server PSU for my build.

Here is a link to the product: https://www.ebay.ca/itm/Seasonic-SS-...76f7%7Ciid%3A1

lilaznviper 05-16-2018 09:56 PM

i bought several server parts off ebay without any issues. all of them work and still working in servers i still have running

Manic! 05-17-2018 12:59 AM

I bought 32 gigs of used ram from ebay with no problems.

twitchyzero 05-17-2018 09:18 AM

seems like a safe buy with ebay, esp with paypal buyer's protection
personally for PSU or GPU i'd buy from a retailer...it'll probably run but the chance of coil whine is certainly there

SkinnyPupp 05-17-2018 12:16 PM

Ebay is safe for buying. It's the sellers who get ripped off all the time
