skinny can you recommend an alternative to local classifieds and reddit that's not ebay for selling?

ButterFingers 05-17-2018 04:09 PM

Pulled the trigger, fingers crossed cause I bought the case for my build as well, been eyeing this for awhile: https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Produc...-408-_-Product

I stopped selling stuff a long time ago... Curated Facebook groups maybe?

Is this the PSU you gought because thats a server PSU and i don't think will fit in your case or work in your build.

https://www.ebay.ca/itm/Seasonic-SS-...76f7%7Ciid%3A1

ButterFingers 05-17-2018 07:27 PM

I plan on modding the case a bit to fit the power supply at the top and then use the original PSU mounting spot for small exhaust fans.

Something similar to this build: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/b/NNGG3C

Since my 1060 only uses a 6 pin connector it should be fine with the seasonic.

Mr.HappySilp 05-17-2018 10:24 PM

Purchase a few parts for the PC and got it working again. I also swap out the SSD and the secondary and install window 10.

However on the secondary drive is a (3TB HDD) I can only format 2TB. The rest is unalocated. I try to go to disc management and it shows about 700GB unalocated and I just can't format it. Any ideas why?

lilaznviper 05-18-2018 12:06 AM

make sure its gpt and not mbr. mbr can only do 2tb. gpt can go a lot higher

Mr.HappySilp 05-18-2018 05:57 AM

^^ Thanks I will give that a try when I am at home.
Might have to upgrade the GPU as well coz drivers from the manfacture aren't supported in Win 10......

I'm also thinking of getting the 8700K, but not really sure paying $300 CAD after shipping is a big enough incentive for me to start a new build I don't need.

I've been experiencing more glitches with my system, and the on-board sound has crapped out... Justification enough I guess

ButterFingers 05-18-2018 04:35 PM

Need to upgrade my CPU soon as well... anyone got a cheap LGA 1150 overclockable CPU for sale? :)

twitchyzero 05-18-2018 06:01 PM

still didn't sell my 3570k yet
whoever wants it with the CM 212+ heat sink, it's $50

Gotta get that legend status, free shipping.

Picked the 8700K and some 16gb of DDR4 ram from them. I really want to build something using a DAN Case or something similar.

Beginning to think my GPU is dead/dying.

Been an ongoing issue since early 2015 and I tried to RMA it but Gigabyte found no issue with it since it's not a constant problem.

Basically what happens is under load (aka gaming or watching a video in 1080P, even working in Excel full screen) there are a ton of artifacts that show up all over the screen. Most of the time when this happens, the game will crash with some kind of error.

This doesn't always happen though. I'll usually use Furmark and run a load test and if it runs fine, that means I'm good to go for gaming and I won't turn off my computer for awhile. If it's good, it'll stay good until the computer is turned off. Once the computer is off and then back on though, it'll start acting up again 7/10 times.

Obviously this has been pretty annoying. It's been nearly a week now and it still hasn't worked properly.

Windows 10 64bit
i5-4690k non-OC'd lol
16gb DDR3
Gigabyte R9 280
Corsair CX550M (new)

With all that said, does anyone have a spare GPU they can lend me for troubleshooting purposes? What's a decent video card nowadays that isn't massively overpriced? Computer is mainly used for light gaming (CS:GO, Sims 4 etc.), Youtube, and general browsing. Seeing as how when I built this computer the video card was already an old model, I don't really need the latest and greatest as it's served my needs fine when it was working.

GTX 1050/1050TI would be perfect.

Yeah, your GPU is failing. I had that problem with many older cards before. The last time I had a similar problem, it was a GTX 660. I overclocked it and ran it for many months without proper cooling...

I looking into building a new computer and was wondering what your thoughts would be.

Currently have a
i7-8700k
Factal Design C ATX Mid tower
EVGA 650 GOLD Power supply
Samsung 500 SSD

Looking to get
1080 GPU
16gb Gskill Trident Z
4gb Hard Drive
ASUS ROG Z-370E

Maybe wanting to add a water cooler but not too sure because of noise.

Thanks

The 1920x was on sale for $249 US on Amazon.com it sold out in a few hours. Too bad there are no cheap motherboards to go with it because that's a steal.
