been out of the loop on dram prices but video card you should def buy used...but do ask if it's been used for mining amd = MIA/KIA nvidia = only allowing pre-orders but embargo'ing benchmarks until launch :suspicious: |
alright, I think i have a rough idea for how to build my system. CPU: Intel - Core i7-8700K 3.7GHz 6-Core Processor ($481.75 @ Vuugo) CPU Cooler: Cooler Master - MasterLiquid ML240L RGB 66.7 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($85.99 @ PC-Canada) Motherboard: Gigabyte - Z370 AORUS Gaming 5 (rev. 1.0) ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($224.99 @ Newegg Canada) Memory: G.Skill - Ripjaws V Series 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR4-3200 Memory ($375.99 @ Newegg Canada) Storage: Samsung - 970 Evo 500GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive ($213.99 @ PC-Canada) Video Card: Zotac - GeForce RTX 2080 Ti 11GB GAMING Triple Fan Video Card ($1538.99 @ PC-Canada) Power Supply: EVGA - SuperNOVA G3 750W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($131.99 @ PC-Canada) Total: $3053.69 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available do you guys have any recommendations? Im still trying to decide on a case that i could add a few fans to if required and also thinking about a 4TB HDD I am planning on O/Cing it a bit as well Im finally giving up on my MSI GT780dxr gaming laptop |
Have you tried putting that into Partpicker to get the cheaper prices? https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/ Also, goddamn, half of that is the GPU. |

Ya the GPU hurts, I'm on the fence until I see benchmarks in it, which should be in the next couple days |
used 1080 Ti, $700 new 2080 Ti after taxes, over $1700 latter is ~25% faster in traditional metrics (basically same tier as the 2080) https://www.hexus.net/tech/news/grap...xv-benchmarks/ the industry as a whole won't start leveraging raytracing for at least few more years, IF at all unless you absolute want the latest/greatest...seems like an awful buy, man |
Does it make much sense these days to do a 1080ti sli? Or is sli slowly disappearing? |
it's a shadow of its former self...developers simply don't want to bother coding for it you can usually use tweaks like NV inspector to force it but it's hardly perfect (weird texture pop-ins, micro-stuttering, etc.) I would advise against SLI esp if you have a budget |
So looks like I'm going through with my build, I upgraded a few parts... So it's looking to be around $3900 taxes in. To save a 10-15%, would u say it would be worth it to buy over the black Friday weekend?.. Or do the high-end parts no go on sale very much? |
When money was more important than time I used to order the parts I could get good deals on at Black Friday/Cyber Monday, then any parts I couldn't find a deal on I'd hunt down during Boxing Week. |
i like that build with the i7-8700K,find a good enough water cooler you could easily overclock 5.1ghz on that, not sure if you could de-lid also on the chip. 32gb ram?...unless you're editing and or using auto cad for all that ram memory 16gb would be plenty for gaming alone. RTX 2080 Ti would be worth it just to be more future proof and also better drivers will come in the future for even more fps.....it's a god at 4k gaming running 70 fps just to reach it But you're talking a whole another bag of money for a 4k monitor and they do sell 4k 144hz for a pretty penny now. |
black Friday too far away me thinks...if you have that kinda budget 10% savings is likely not worth waiting 2 months |
Ya was thinking of delidding, but it seems pretty common to get 5.0ghz with stability with a decent aio. Asus monitor looks pretty sweet, but for 2000$ i might wait. Im very interested in the pimax 5k and 8k vr headsets |
If you have the budget I would het the Micron 2 TB SSD for $339. https://www.canadacomputers.com/prod...item_id=120235 |
|
$300. would be okay for youtube and netflix, would run cs go okay but any AAA Titles its gonna struggle as hell. i had a 480 series gpu laptop 2 years ago and that thing was barely cutting it in this day and age. |
i7, 16gb ram, discrete gpu, BD rewriter as a bonus is still very much mid-range in a laptop i'd start at 490 |

Like this: Jimbeans.@gmail.com Jim.beans.@gmail.com J.imbeans.@gmail.com Jimb.ea.ns.@gmail.com Ebay will think they are all different allowing you to make new accounts with them. Gmail will think they are all the same. |
Why on earth would Google ignore periods? Do they ignore other symbols that normally work in email addresses? |

weird quirk but used this to setup multiple accounts before |

There is also the + prick. Add the + symbol after your email so you can add other words. Like Jimbean+hookersandblow@gmail.com |
Funny thing about that, a long time ago I created a google account with a "." in it. I think they recognized it back then. Since then, someone made one with the exact same name, except with no "." We both get their email LUL I don't know if he gets mine though. I don't really use that account |
I think I'm going to swap out the 8700k for the 9900k and swap the z370 gaming 7 for the z390 aorus master. That will add another 500 to the price tag, but should be a nice improvement |
