it's actually not that easy to find ram with similar speed and timing if you're just gonna add in another 8GB

GPU is the least fussiest to drop-in

But another stick of ram is going to cost you less then $100 a GPU is going to cost you a lot more. Buy one stick now and use the money saved to buy a better GPU.

Id go for 16gb ram straight up

thats pretty much the standard these days

Jmac 10-25-2018 08:32 PM

16 GB is less than $150 for DDR4 3000, why not?

R1CED` 10-25-2018 08:46 PM

8G ok for HTPC or general basic tasks
gaming I would start 16Gto keep your min. frame rates steadier

Check out that $429 1080!

god damn that's cheap and 1080 gtx would be overkill for a 1080p display with 60hz...haha....

Is there any benefit to ordering pc parts from the states? Or is it pretty much a wash with duty and exchange?

Depends on the deal. I bought my Samsung M.2. NVME SSD from B&H.

R1CED` 10-31-2018 09:12 PM

return/warranty can be a PITA
i'd say yes for better selection, but not for better price unless it's quite significant

Anyone know how the Black Friday deals are usually like for laptops? Trying to find an i5/i7 8GB ssd preferred laptop for around 500 (if possible) for school.

twitchyzero 11-04-2018 01:58 AM

sounds reasonable
check dell in a few weeks (remember to stack coupons and get ebates)

RickyTan3 11-07-2018 01:12 AM

just did a new computer build and monitors are driving me nuts.
I am used the the iMac 27" 5k displays, clear crisp sexy.

I got the 34" LG curved and looked super dull and text was a bit fuzzy in some applications.

What do you guys recommend for monitors? Only wish they sold the Surface Studio Display Seperately

Maybe you should get a 27" 4K display.

I currently have the Dell S2718D, but thinking about returning it for this monitor that I stumbled upon - https://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX74242

RickyTan3 11-07-2018 02:51 PM

I saw the samsung 27" 4k in store and quality was not good at all.
I got a lg ips 27" for $399 and the brightness and color is not on par as higher end monitors.

https://www.lg.com/ca_en/desktop-mon...hd-led-monitor

I ordered this one on amazon see how it goes.

PPI on that samsung is really now so I doubt clarity would be that good.
