Depends on the game. 5700XT, have had some artifacting/weird gfx crashes with F1 2020.

Just decided to ditch my 9 years old i7 2600K
And building a i7 9700K ITX system.

I am super confused on the selections of Ram and Z390/490 ITX mobo.
I have been diving into youtube and google for all the info these days...but still confused, don't know whats the best choice.

Try to get low CL on DDR4 3600mhz ram 2x 16gb, but only found CL16 as the lowest. Is there CL15 ? or Maybe i have to OC it ?
Also trying to keep price around $200-250 range.
Any recommendation on ram ?

As for ITX mobo, would you guys get Z390 or Z490 ?
So many brands out there,
such as Asus ROG, Gigabyte Aorus, and MSI Pro Carbon...etc.
Which one is more commonly used ?

Appreciate if anyone can show some lights.

My understanding is intel does not really benefit from faster ram.

Why are you going intel over AMD?

Really ah ? didn't know intel does not really benefit from fast ram.
Not even with tight timing ?

I have no reason going intel over AMD. Just typical stick with intel.
Is AMD faster than Intel now ? or its more cost effective ?

That reminds of me of Athlon Barton Core back in the days!! It's value / performance through the roof.

AMD is killing intel right now. For the same price, AMD will be faster and have more cores. Only at the top end, Intel is slightly better at gaming. Everything else AMD You will also have a way better upgrade path.

The AMD 3700x is about $100 cheaper.

WOW!! looks like Lisa is doing great job turning AMD back!!

what do you mean by upgrade path ? AMD mobo supports lots future CPUs and Ram speed or DDR5 and so on ?

It was paining me to hear a customer at Canada Computers try to tell the sales associate that Intel was better than AMD for his mid tier comp build :lawl:

and ^^^ AMDs MOBO 5XX currently has compatibility with the next gen 4000 series Zen 3. The previous 4XX had compatibility up to Zen 2. Intel loves to make all their new CPUs use new sockets

finally figured out a way to get CL14-15-15-35 with 32GB 3600MHZ !!!!

The reason why i want to build 9700K,
its because i snatched one at half of the cost brand new in the box and no tax.
That person i snatched 9700K from, actually wanted tp build a Ryzen system.

I am hoping this will last another 9 years just like my old 2600K.
This 2600K was running 5.0ghz and it became not very stable recently.
Time to let go...

Now, still couldn't decide which Mobo to go with. They all seem so delicious!!!

Also, just read interesting news on Ryzen 4th gen. Looks like intel will get hammered bad!!!

i heard it's a shit time to be building a PC since 2000 series nvidia gpu's are stopping production and 3000's are suppose to be releasing pretty soon..

3080 gtx,3080 ti.

rumor has it its suppose to use a new 10 pin power connector so people are suppose to buy a whole new PSU,or hopefully if Nvidia is smart enough they ship it with a converter cable so nobody has to fuck with a entire re-wire and more $$$.

current GPU's prices might go higher prices because limited stock for GPU'S,same bullshit happened with RAM when i build my PC and paid $190 for 16gb 3200 speed.. :rukidding: ...i looked months ago from 3 years ago... 90 dollars for 16gb ram...

Also everyone remembers when bitcoin mining was a thing and you saw a whole fuckload of cards on craigslist while stores had 1 or 4 in stock, lucky i was quick enough to find a decently priced card and nothing overpriced how the market started to turn when that was alll the rage.

Yea, i m also aware of these situation.
for me, I currently just need to get ram and mobo.

I am thinking of selling few of RTX2080ti i have on hand.
then, upgrade to 3080s.
But PSU is totally an issue for now because of the 12 pin connector.

He did AIO upside down...XDDD

Recently had a really bad experience with Canada Computers

Purchased 2 sticks of Ram from their site paid and eta to arrive was 10 business days.

10 business days gone by and I haven't received anything so I gave them a call after an hour of being on hold I hung up and email them. 2 days after that I got a reply saying they haven't been shipped! Later that same day they tell me they only have 1 stick in stock if I still would want it.

If I didn't reach out they may have just kept my money and not said anything. Just letting you guys know, not sure if this was one-off but I certainly won't buy from them again.

Yeah, people have been avoiding Canada Computers.

Their support for online orders is basically non-existent (can't reach anyone to inquire about your order via phone or email) and their return policy is garbage (returns accepted only for unopened products and products with defectives can be exchanged only).

Only recommend buying something from them if you can buy it in-store and you know for sure you aren't returning it.

Memory Express is still the king of brick and mortar computer stores. None of these stupid shenanigans that Canada Computers is doing, which quite frankly reminds me of NCIX before they went bankrupt.

Which of the two would you guys get? Leaning towards the Zephyrus. Just looking for a good gaming laptop around $1500. Chose Costco since they have good warranty. Open to other suggestions.

I have no experience with recent laptop processors but are you certain that you want a gaming laptop? I currently have one and its terrible. Its a terrible laptop experience due to being extremely heavy and having poor battery life. Its also a terrible gaming experience as you're limited to a 15" screen and the laptops usually run much hotter than a comparable desktop

The Strix G15 is better if I had to pick between the two.

I had the Zephyrus G15. It has the bottom vents blocked off for some reason causing higher temperatures than required, screen was pretty shitty, and it's also running the lower wattage 1660TI. Wouldn't recommend overall.

BTW, if you are comfortable with a slightly smaller laptop, I am contemplating selling my Zephyrus G14.

This, and what ability do you really have for upgrade purposes? Seems kind of pointless investing that much into a gaming laptop if you're serious about being able to upgrade to keep the system viable years down the line.

The new Ryzen mobile chips are pretty close to their desktop counterparts in performance. Check out a benchmark comparison between the mobile 4800H/4800HS and the desktop 3600/3600X.

It's amazing what AMD has done in the mobile sector as it's running laps around Intel.

another gen of cards to be released and i'm still not happy with the current (lack of) 120+ 4k ips 27" monitors.

by now i was hoping for an oled option from Dell (not a fan of TN or busy RGB gaming monitors).

starting to feel like I'll be waiting for micro-led .
