pretty much same performance with RTX 3080

But only cost $549!!!!!

Somehow this info tells me, Jensen knows inside stories about AMD Navi performance and cost.
Thats why Jensen puts 3000 series tag price so low!!

Source?

screw a pre-order unless you really need it asap.

the thing with AMD is how fast are they gonna be for Driver software updates...the huge complaint for certain users before for they're GPU's was black screening and game crashes, bugs of having to restart you're computer just to fix it.

nvidia this shit was unheard of unless you got a lemon, also most game creators catered towards green.

SkinnyPupp 09-06-2020 09:18 PM

Yeah when I switched to Nvidia I was really happy with how much better the drivers were, better interface, and more frequent updates

AMD has better tech for frame pacing though, but nvidia may have caught up. Or you just brute force with power now... Using a 3080 at 1080p LUL

There's a shop in HK charging $400 to pre-order the new cards. It's not a down payment, it's actually $400 on top of the price of the card FailFish Desperate people will buy that though for sure

Not to mention that when the RX 480 was first released, it was literally frying PCI-E slots.

I remember back in almost 20 years ago, when Geforce 4 TI 4800 vs ATI 9700Pro
ATI kept having driver issues...

So, after ATI sold to AMD, still keeps having driver issues ah ? I haven't touch ATI/AMD Video cards after 9700Pro...LOL

Jmac 09-07-2020 01:48 AM

I had 3 x HD 5870s in Crossfire back in the day and didn’t really have any issues (you know, besides heat and noise).

Maybe ME will pricematch?

Picked up a BenQ EX3203R.

Didn't realize FreeSync was such a game changer. I can dip as low as 80 FPS and it still feels like 144 FPS.

Damn.

The biggest upgrade in performance since SSDs

I'm starting to look into building a new rig after the annoucements of the RTX 30 series. I'm looking at getting an i9 chipset for my new rig, but some people I've talk to suggested that AMD chips would run very similarly but for lower cost. If I were to be looking into the RTX 3060, 3070 or 3080 series, would there be a big dip in performance for AMD vs Intel?

3080 has the potential to join the ranks of 8800gtx/580/780ti/1080ti

this is their first time on the samsung process though, and only 10gb mem will impact future relevance

not gonna get hopes up yet but the flagship rdna2 could be my next card if it's closer to the 3080 than 3070...i'll need the 16gb and tsmc is tried and true

felt like the gpu scene has been stagnating for years, could finally be worth looking into again

SkinnyPupp 09-10-2020 03:15 AM

Samsung has been making 7nm semiconductors for 2 years

I wish AMD would be able to announce their shit earlier than late October, I think people would wait if they had something really good to offer

twitchyzero 09-10-2020 07:04 PM

I’m not familiar with their desktop gpu designs, aren’t they more of a SoC mfgr for Mobile?

yields will probably be pretty shitty this year for both camps esp if amd has to supply for the consoles

if anyone has a gpu to resell maybe wait until November

SkinnyPupp 09-10-2020 07:07 PM

Yeah but I think when it comes to manufacturing, transistors are transistors pretty much... Any flaws would have come up by now, barring complete disaster which will come up immediately

Manic! 09-11-2020 01:40 PM

Prices are out. $799 US $1053 can for a 3080 from Asus.

bought a 5700 xt for $600 during the start of covid. Cause fuck me right? I needed a GPU right away and it served the purpose of staying home during the lock down

Guess I won't upgrade anytime soon lol

Put it to mining......at least, you will get $35-40 a month back.
Just after a bit over a year, it will pay itself off.

SkinnyPupp 09-16-2020 03:36 PM

In most games, the boost from 2080 - 3080 isn't that high. Even at 4K we're talking about 20-30% higher frame rates.

In the super graphically intense games it's higher, but still not crazy

If you play under 4K, your 2080 is totally fine for now.

If you're on a 1080 era card, or a 6GB 2060, then you will want to consider these, even at 1440p or even 1080p.

Can ya guys recommend a new wifi router? (something that'll be fine with like 20 devices connected) I haven't looked at anything pc in years, and I just upgraded my net to shaw's fibre+750 plan, and their wifi gateway modem stinks!

The wifi keeps disconnecting, especially when I change rooms, the range seems worse than my Asus rt n56u that died recently

And I seem to only be getting speeds more in tune with their fibre+300 plan... Speedtest results 350mbps-ish
