Each manufacturer will price their cards slightly differently due to different features (cooling system, RGB lights, warranty, etc.). "OC" cards tend to have overclocks from the factory, but these OCs are worth maybe 3-5fps at the very most in specific games, and you can try to replicate them yourself with a non-OC card. |

I am on 2600K still. I didn't build up 9700K rig few month back, as everyone told me to wait for all these new CPU coming out. Waiting to see new AMD vs Intel!!! And I couldn't get my hands on any of the RTX 3000 series neither, so might as well wait for BIG NAVI now. |
3070 review embargo lifted. It looks to be within 5% the performance of a 2080 Ti at 4K, for roughly half the price. It's about 30-40% slower than a 3080 (which means the 3080 price is right in line with performance, and if you need that 30% it's worth paying extra for it) It's a fantastic "today" card, but in a few years you might bump into the 8GB limitation if playing at 4K Looking forward to seeing what AMD has up its sleeve tomorrow. Nvidia is clearly reacting to whatever that is. Also I really hope people can actually get one of these damn things! |
think I may go straight AMD instead of Intel/Nvidia for my new build with all the shit Ive read up so far the hype is real |
unlocked full Navi 21 about double 5700 xt 1k usd dec 8 https://www.anandtech.com/show/16202...-november-18th |
1 Attachment(s) Then you have these retards. |
If these AMD cards are available first, I think I'll get one Nvidia does offer a better experience with drivers in my experience. Except for having to log in to use it, Geforce Experience has been pretty useful. I think DXR Ray Tracing will become the standard over Nvidia's platform, as that's the one the consoles will be using. I am also not convinced that DLSS is worth it at low res. If I played PC games at 4K then I would consider it. But from what I've seen, 720p > 1080p DLSS 2.0 just looks like 720p with good AA. Nvidia did an amazing job at getting reviewers to make people think that full ray tracing and DLSS are very important. Two effective but relatively minor features that not many games support, but are constantly brought up when comparing these cards. For this generation, ray tracing will be used in "most bang for buck" scenarios like reflections. Anything extra will be specific cases developed by Nvidia, like with the game Control. DLSS will enable it when the full horsepower isn't there, but otherwise that feature won't be necessary unless you're attempting to play 4K at high refresh. |
I'm hyped for the AMD cards, but I will still wait for reviews to see how it is. Their benchmarks had their cards overclocked and using the new Smart Access Memory tech that requires Ryzen 5000 CPUs. I think I'll still keep trying to get a 3070 (launches tomorrow) or a 3080. Will probably aim to get a EVGA 3070 because I can step it up to a 3080 for some extra frames. If reviews for the AMD cards are great, I'm sure I can resell it on Craigslist to break even. |
If I can get a 3070 tomorrow that's what I'm getting LUL If not, I don't expect it to actually be available until next year some time. If that's the case, 6800 is the way I'll go (though the 6800XT makes more sense as it's only $70 more). Unless they're both unavailable WutFace |
I think the AMD launch should go over smoothly since they're using TSMC and GDDR6. NVIDIA thought they could use Samsung to negotiate with TSMC, but there's huge speculations that both the yields are bad and there's a market shortage of GDDR6X. |
ummm....i didn't see any of the 3070 go on sale yet.....it use suppose to be 8 am on bestbuy??? |
6 am release date..no luck...went fast as fuck...gg. |
I had it in my cart at Best Buy, but I couldn't log in and then it disappeared Oh well |
Bought the 3070 FE from Best Buy. URL was being passed around on reddit before 6AM and I managed to add it to my cart. It went OOS for a few minutes, but came back live after. Not searchable in the website's search bar for some reason. $679 seems really reasonable compared to the AIB ones. Even the shitty ASUS Dual is $699 on Newegg with most at around $749. Anyone want to buy my ASUS ROG Strix 5700XT for $450? Half a year old with receipt from ME. |
up at 5 buying computer parts? lol where's the best chance to purchase a 6900 before it gets sniped by bots? |
If AMD's manufacturing is much better than Nvidia's like some are saying, it should be reasonably possible to get one if you try hard. I didn't try that hard (started 20 mins after launch and didn't have a secret reddit link) and almost got a 3070 |

Canada Computers and Memory Express are probably only going to do in-store purchases the day of launch and then online backorders a few days later. |
The stock CPU fan on my old i7 3770 is slowly driving me nuts, does anyone know of a cheap, really quiet replacement? I think the socket is LGA 1155. |

Is there any point to upgrade if you've got a recent build? I've currently got a 3600x/5700xt and i've really only noticed CPU bottlenecks at 1080p on a few games. Though i'm sure with next gen coming it'll probably necessitate an upgrade |
Lots of 3070s look to be available in Hong Kong, for about +$200 USD markup DansGame Once they filter through all the idiots and have leftover stock, prices should come down. This means there's probably going to be restocks around the world as well, as they aren't getting bought at the same rate as the 3080 (which had similar markups). |
Received an unexpected call from Memory Express today for my MSI Ventus RTX 3080 pre-order that I placed a month ago. Plugged it in and it's working great so far. Perfect for 1440p gaming with high FPS across the board. I picked the Ventus for the overall muted look since I sold my RGB build, but in hindsight, after reviews came out, I regretted not picking up the ASUS TUF instead. The cooling on those RTX cards are the best this year. Now to wait for Best Buy to ship me that RTX 3070 FE so I can compare and see. Originally pre-ordered the 3080 for 4K gaming, but I decided to keep my current monitor instead. |
was going for 3080 for more "future proof"...but even that seems like a waste little bit cause likely i'm sticking to 1080p 360hz,one of the top gamers shroud got a Alienware 360hz today and he noticed the huge difference from 240hz before. gonna hold off for everything at this point, see if AMD changes the GPU game like they did with the Ryzen.. might be a dream build with 5000 series Ryzen 7 5900x & big navi 16gb video card....we shall see. |

I don't blame you for going for a markup on craigslist of course |
