Don't even bother. Just wait for the AIB ones to be in-stock by end of November. If not, Newegg is probably your best choice, but I imagine that will be sold out instantly. |
newegg sold out instantly at 6 am lol not much luck for other sites |
Meh I just ordered a 3070 for $4800 ($600 usd). Tired of waiting and speculation and uncertainty. Should have done this weeks ago, they've seemingly been in stock since LUL |
Congrats. Should serve you very well |
Big Navi reviews are in and this is the gist of it: -Basic performance is about in line with price. 6800 is 15% more expensive than 3070, and it generally performs around 10-15% better. 6800XT is usually with 5% of the 3080, which is 5% more expensive. Some games are better for one card, some better for the other, but overall performance is what you'd expect based on price. -However Raytracing performance is really bad on the AMD cards. Unplayable in many scenarios. I talked about this before, where I said I'd expect next gen games to only use the most obvious portions provided by RT (reflections especially) and do away with the more subtle but expensive effects. PC games developed for full RT capabilities provided by Nvidia will not do well on the AMD cards. Multiplatform games should be fine. We're seeing more of a disadvantage now because most games with RT were made for Nvidia RTX, not the PS5 or XBOX SX, so AMD is at a huge disadvantage right now. TLDR: It might be best just to buy whatever you can get your hands on if it's close to MSRP. If you play at native 4K though, maybe hold out for a 3080. One thing to consider is that some games support DLSS on Nvidia cards, which can make up for the huge performance hit at the expense of some fidelity. It depends on the res, but DLSS going from 1440P > 4K looks really good, but going from 720p to 1080p basically just looks like 720p. |
Valhalla is playable now! PogChamp Ultra settings with just volumetric clouds knocked down to very high, and motion blur disabled = 90 fps with dips to around 60 in towns. Not 1440p at Ultra levels, but that's AC for you |
are cards in HK a little more costly than in the US? |

I think it's cheaper than buying in Canada if you include tax |

weird how 3090's are popping up more common than 3070,3080 from bestbuy & newegg i don't care to spend $2200 for 10% performance gain verse 3080 and i'm never doing auto cad with that 24gb video memory or editing 4k videos saw few insane people doing it for 1440p 240hz gaming, even that looks overkill. |
I'm trying to understand RAM... CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 3600MHz CL18 vs CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4-3200MHz CL16 Same price. Which one should I buy? There's also a version of these same RAM floating around that has "Ryzen" in it's title. I don't know does that mean those versions are specifically to be used with Ryzen CPU. I do plan on getting the Ryzen 3600. |

But too bad, mobo doesn't support Gen 4 |
I'm close to pulling the trigger on the WD Black SN750 1TB for $116 USD :considered: Or grab a 500 GB for now, and wait for the Gen4 drives to come down in price next year :considered: |
well, I guess I waited too long for my budget build. BF prices are ok.. but I've been watching prices on the stuff I wanted since middle of Oct. Several things ended up going up in price. Previous gen GPU's didn't really go down in price, and in fact, they're all out of stock now. lol. Ryzen 3600 is out of stock too. Will stock be better by Boxing Day?? |
