yep thinking i'll finish this build and that'll be it for the foreseeable future
wasn't that long ago when $300 got a you quite a bit of graphics performance
like i'm glad advancements finally caught up again but at what price tag
the mining from 2017 ruined everything
I picked up my GTX 1070 for $480 in 2016. I remember you could easily find them in the low-to-mid $500 range (I built another computer for someone prior to my own and I think it was about $540). Once mining took off, finding one at all was tough and easily $300 more if you could.
Had triple Radeon HD 5850s in Crossfire before that but I got one of them for free and the other two were significantly discounted through AMD’s retail partner program. I think I paid a grand total of around $250-$300 for the set back in 2010 (plus like $100 for a Phenom II X6 1090T BE)
Before that, I had an 8800 GT that I think I got for about $200 (I actually ordered a 7900 GT or maybe GTX on Boxing Day from NCIX but they shipped it to the wrong address. They ended up sending me the 8800 in its place since they had no 7900s left).
TL;DW It takes a 1080 Ti or (3060 Ti) to match PS5 in the cutscene they chose (where the FPS bottoms out at 51 on the PS5)
Also they explain how the "AA" works on the PC version, it basically just scales down your resolution a bit. "High AA" just means "native resolution". Adaptive res will swap between these settings trying to maintain a frame rate. Consoles get a much more robust version of this.
Also this confirms the cloud setting I found - the difference between Ultra and Very High is negligible (like literally no difference), but leads to a huge FPS drop. Actually they found even High is fine
My version of the Nitro 5 comes with a 1TB HHD and I'm trying to put in the NVMe (and clone the OS later). This is my first time installing a M.2, but I figured it's not rocket science. It only goes in one way and I've watched tutorials on YouTube.
The laptop has 2 slots, one that's PCIE and one that's PCIE/SATA. I tried both slots and the NVMe isn't being detected. BIOS isn't detecting it, I tried installing Macrium Reflect and it's not detecting it. Any suggestions on what I can do?
I bought this for my wife and promised I can make this laptop faster (with the NVMe) but this POS is so slow right now, I want to drop kick it into the street and I've only had it for like a week. @$!%!!
It also takes literally 4 minutes to restart so I don't know what's up with that.
FWIW, the NVMe feels warm after running the laptop for a bit. So does that mean it's at least connected properly?

In most situations, it should just work and you shouldn't need to tinker with any BIOS settings. You can try loading the optimized default settings and restarting your computer.
Out of curiosity, what's under advanced settings?
I would try to get a replacement if it's seated properly and you don't have another computer to test with. Check that's it actually inserted all the way as underscore suggested.

If I remember right, they go in at a bit of a steeper angle than you'd think and then hinge down. It took me a few tries since I wasn't used to computer parts going together like that.
I may be wrong though, I've only installed one of thise drives and that was back in Feb.

Need some help on building a 30TB capacity RAID 10 home server.
I currently have a 24TB home server just running on Intel Pentium G4400 and 16GB ram with Windows 10 Pro.
I use it to store my pics and videos for my work and some family stuff.
I was lazy and cheap out on this set up. So, i didn't put too much mind and $$ in this system. Until few of my drives died...lost valuable files on those drives.
Now, I am thinking to build a usable 30TB capacity with RAID 10.
Also, trying to improve performance.
Some of raw Video files are more than 100GB.
Few question i have
1. Does it have to be server CPU ? like Xeon ? Will I7 6700K (Got one laying around) be enough ?
2. I heard people are saying Hardware RAID is dead, most people use software raid ?? But I thought Hardware RAID is must faster.
For the system, CPU + MOBO + RAM +RAID CARD with budget of $1000
